Now living in Porthmadog, I think its a great idea, (although transport for Macclesfield is already sorted). Car share happens from down here, but one always misses out on a few pints, being the designated driver. Also know of a few who travel regularly, from
Penrhyndeudraeth, and with Leo Smith, a Port lad, now on the fringes of the first team, interest in Wrexham round here is on the up. For this to be a success, results would have to be good, as there's nothing worse, than a journey home over the mountains, following a dismal performance and result. I hope this coach is a success, I will certainly use it. One last thing, is it too late to put an advert for this, when sending out the season tickets for supporters on, or near this route.

Might get a bus full if it stopped off at Eagles Meadow.

Sooo...

First things first. Long overdue initiative and to be hugely welcomed. Some time back we did seem to be actively starting to cultivate the younger fan base along the coast but, unless I'm imagining it, this seems to have quietly died a death. This then is a huge step in the right direction and at a decent price.

I can't really comment on the route but it would be interesting to learn the science behind it, if any. I like the mapping Citymapper did in London before introducing a bus to cover a hitherto uncovered route. Would be interesting to do that on a lesser scale. The club already has data about where, for example, season ticket holders live.

I do disagree with the idea mentioned much earlier that public transport links serve some areas really well. Not at all. North Wales is a desert as regards public transport links and we suffer badly as a consequence. Try getting to anywhere in England beyond Chester after a midweek game and you'll soon see the problem.

Brings me to my next point. If this works and a database can be built of regular users and some work done on who else might use then the next step has to be midweek home games.

Finally, the nub of the nonsense Brexit argument can be found in the phrase

"I do believe that there are enormous issues regarding overcrowding, competition for resources, jobs houses and space, and the sovereignty issues".

Well, you may believe that eastsussexred but it is factually disconnected from reality, involving as it does the treatment of migrants as a homogeneous, stereotyped group. My work covers benefits advice, housing, employment and discrimination and there is more than enough data out there to show that most migrants are not competing for resources or depriving anyone of homes or jobs. The opposite in fact.

You'll not find a local authority in the country that believes engaging with and encouraging participation from migrant groups is damaging to community cohesion (albeit such a nebulous concept teeters on the edge of "bollocks"!

The people that Todd and others would like to see come through the turnstiles are generally low paid, in poor housing and socially isolated. Pretty much how a lot of disabled fans on benefits might describe themselves. Do you want to keep digging that hole?

I look forward to taking your argument to its logical extreme and ending tickets for carers because it has the potential to antagonise those who work hard to buy their tickets.

As far as Brexit is concerned the likelihood of it causing antagonism is dwarfed by the fact parliament has under our noses just taken on powers not dissimilar to to the early days of Nazi Germany without so much as a peep of protest. What's coming is not community against community. It has been better described as an "administrative cataclysm".

Now back to buses and a big step forward.

It's easy to find a reason to not be inclusive. If the phrase "community club" means anything I'm fairly certain it doesn't mean "the community I feel most comfortable with".

It's much more rewarding for everyone to take the opposite perspective.
Fascinating stuff Mike. Great how you manage to link a bus from Pwllheli with Brexit and migrants. Keep it up!

If you read a page or two back, you'll see it wasn't Mike who took it on a weird tangent.

Pathetic isn't it? There are plenty of threads on off topic for those who have desires to appear on Question Time and need their egos to be massaged. I'd be ever so grateful if those who fit that category kindly feck off from this thread back to their homeland.

Clearly it's a good initiative and hopefully one that will grow to include those that actually live on the coast. I know someone on here tried something similar on here last season and it was met with complete apathy but now that we are a football club again and this is being organized by the club it might well have some legs and be a grower. Hat's off to those involved for giving it a bash.

Got to agree with you wholeheartedly.

If people within the club read this thread they must be scratching their heads in astonishment.

Would be good if the media team plugged it during match commentary if its not already been done.

Great initiative by the club which could have huge potential benefits. Hopefully pockets of support grow across North Wales with some new supporters clubs popping up

its a tough one though, at what point is it a success, half filled bus? It might only break even but the next week it could be full or vice versa. We also make money from those in the ground of course.

If it is a full bus have we missed out on other fans...

I know the rail network is an issue but a tie up here would be perfect, no risk to us, allow a true picture of where the demand is for future coaches. As I mentioned before free public transport in Germany.

I do think the bus is brilliant by the way and could be tailor made in the future with more pick ups. Great to see the club doing these sort of initiatives.
