I get fed up with the popular belief that only top clubs have trendy players too.

Charles Roberts wife ran a model agency in Manchester and a few of her "girls" used to be at the match doing promotional work. i was a Building inspector at the time and part of my patch was the Ffrith/Llanfynydd and Charles Roberts had a house up on the mountain and once or twice he would be having events outside and it was always worth a stop and have a gander , he was a decent sort and very good for the club at the time ...i think ?

In the 80's I used to work on my mum's uncle's fruit and veg van. Used to deliver to Mr and Mrs Roberts up in the hall. Both lovely people and very good tippers especially at Christmas. They often had parties up there in the summer.

Charles and Carol were a class act. Real 1970's showbiz.

Charles was/is flamboyant and liked to feature on the scene.

He was the reason the players had a private plane to fly them down to their FA Cup games in the early 70's.

When Stanley Matthews came down to the club, it was because Charles brought him down.

He went on to became Chairman of Bangor City after being a director at Wrexham and had his hand in a number of entrepreneurial business ventures. A garden center etc.

He liked a microphone.

And considering he lived in Wales, he always had a healthy tan.
