Too many examples to mention really. Your comment also shows why the common truism of "players will be backed as long as they do their best" is nowhere near the reality.

You're right. Michael Bakate was never backed, despite always doing his best.

This was when the latter poked his toe through the legs of their number 3 and he collapsed embarrassingly.

Mildly entertaining.
I think i must have been standing near you too as i heard that 'leg breaker' comment! had to laugh. He didn't think it was a pen either...

This all sounds a lot more entertaining than the game itself to be honest.

Nor Shaun Pejic, even though he should have been Player of the Season the year we just about stayed up. Nor Levi Mackin or Declan Walker, who were both not that good but visibly shrunk under the stick from our fans. Dennis Lawrence had to provide months and months of good performances before he turned it around. It's very rare that there isn't a whipping boy, although if there is one positive about the social media age it tends to be that people vent on there rather than produce the sort of shameful abuse the likes of Pejic and Mackin received in person.

Keates doesn't want to play with a target man. He wants versatility. Thus why White departed. Whoever comes in won't be a conventional target man.

Does beg the question why we're banging the ball down the channels and putting in high crosses though.
Sorry Mike, it's my real name on the seat.
Amazingly people think that because I chose an ironic pen name I must be a doom and gloom merchant (I don't mean you) always looking for the positives personally.
As for the target man, it could be a big guy, but equally I'd be happy with someone smaller if they have the right attributes, look at Morrell and his heading prowess. I think the right timing and ability can be as effective.

They looked ok, nothing special though.

I understand the rules of football and as you say the linesman shouldn't be in line with play. My use of the phrase was meaning that he was out of position as you correctly stated should be in line with the second to last defender. Which he was not.
I'm been a bit picky here but they are Laws of the game not rules.

There will always be moaners but I don't expect to see a repeat of Pejic being booed onto the field at the Millennium Stadium by hundreds of people, or Craig Skinner being screamed at by an entire terrace for taking the ball to the corner flag rather than crossing when 1-0 up in stoppage time. No need to row with everyone

I'll let you go and learn what 'they' means.
