Re: Chester game (at Solihull) off
No laughing matter really, it could so easily have been us or any other club playing there tomorrow - also does nothing to enhance the integrity of the league.
A short extract from the official Solihull Moors site : .................................................. .......... "The Solihull Safety Advisory Group, who oversee the licensing of the stadium, has clarified that spectators cannot be admitted to the ground until such time as required safety systems are in place. "Arrangements are in hand to urgently deal with this matter, but it is felt the only appropriate decision available to The National League is to postpone the fixture and rearrange it for later in the season." There will be no further comment from the football club at this moment in time .................................................. ............................................. This could mean many things suffice to say that Solihull Moors have failed to comply with the terms of their safety certificate. This is likely to involve multiple issues of concern probably aired over a considerable time period that have not been righted - for example : Poorly trained or a simple lack of stewards up to an acceptable standard. No safety officer available (for whatever reason) No first aid / medical facilities Defunct PA system Poor physical stadium condition - annual testing either failed or not done. Poor counting systems / turnstiles not functioning - no way of knowing how many spectators have been admitted to the stadium. Ineffective exit gates and no emergency evacuation system. Perhaps money is an issue - it usually is in these circumstances, what is absolutely certain is that SM have put themselves massively under the microscope both with their Safety Advisory Group and the National League. Pointless fining the club really if finance restrictions are holding them back from maintaining their stadium to an acceptable standard. |
