I agree. We need to play a better standard of team in pre season

Some common sense at last.

Its the 'what do people expect?' I find odd. As if there were unique mitigating circumstances. Which there weren't.

Not once have I said it was good enough. I haven't claimed that's the standard. However, it's a new squad, it's a new season, it was never going to start well. People are acting as if Macc dominated us. It's ridiculous.

It's a marathon not a sprint.

It's not that though. It's ten years in and it's quite clear from today that we are still a long way off being able to challenge for top spot. Today showed that there is much work to be done just to get us challenging for the play offs. So the frustration is understandable - like I say it's not one game in, it's ten years in, and the last 4 years in particular have seem a consistent degradation - there has been no evidence, in either the pre season friendlies or today, that this decline been halted.

I'll tell you what I expect -

1 - not to be outclassed at home by a team put together on a shoestring budget.
2. - more than one shot at goal
3. - not to have to watch Carrington and Rutherford who couldn't cut the mustard last Season, while Mackreth and Wright sat on the bench.
4. - not to see Manny pump hopeful balls forward to lightweight forwards.
5. - our first choice keeper not being able to make a routine save.

Still great to see 6K plus there and they deserve better.

Keates was never going to get it right from day 1 with yet again another close season of complete overhaul.

Positives were Manny and Pearson, Kelly looks a footballer, Rutherford runs all day and Massanka certainly looked stronger - unfortunately that's where it stopped.

Dunn just does not look good enough at this level and the goal looked as though it should have been a basic save - was he concentrating. Even the disallowed goal was yet another mistake from him.
Roberts didn't look fit and lacked confidence going forward and Jennings seems to make a lot of poor choices at times.
CM was a real worry for me and the selection didn't looked right and seemed a negative approach. Carrington is just a squad player and Wedgbury needs to up his game.
Rutherford does all the huff and puff which is great but does lack quality in the final third and with his delivery, Mackreth seemed the same.
Boden started quite lively but flitted in and out of game often dropping too far off Massanka.

Fantastic attendance once again let down by an under-par and lack lustre performance.

Keates and Darlo have to take the blame for team selection and a starting 11 that was clearly not right and cost us the game 1st half. Why bring Akil in if Carrington is considered ahead of him.

1 game in and a bit of a shake up needed but I am confident things will improve if changes are made.
