Re: Macclesfield reaction
An improvement on last season but still very poor. Keates must take some of the blame for picking the wrong players and wrong formation. We should be playing 433, Carrington should not be starting in midfield and Kelly needs to play in the centre. It's obvious he is the only player that can put his foot on the all.

Re: Macclesfield reaction
Their two centre halves bossed it all game, were excellent, along with Whittaker who was a class act again, always is against us, best team won lot of work to do for us, up front woeful, two defensive central midfielders and no creativity is not the answer.

Re: Macclesfield reaction
After being very optimistic this morning, we were very slow starting in the first half. The midfield were poor - Rutherford and Wedgebury in particular offered nothing. We lacked movement and just didn't look sharp. The goal was unfortunate, the ball moved like a ballon whilst at speed and caught Dunn out. We lacked a width down our left, and lacked quality down the right.
We improved 2nd half. Wedgebury played better and Kelly looked good, but Macclesfield were happy to defend their lead. We clearly need more forward options. Macc pulled off the perfect away performance. The referee got the penalty call correct and had a decent afternoon. The only decision i disagreed with was a goal kick decision in the second half - should of been a corner. Match ratings: Dunn 5 - maybe could have done better with the goal, but it did really move in the air. Roberts 5 -steady without really excelling in the game Smith 6 - rusty first half but more composed second half Pearson 6 - same as smith Jennings 5 - had very little support when attacking, looked solid defensively Wedgebury 1st half 3 - off the pace and chasing shadows first half - really poor 2nd half 5 - looked more awake and sharper Carrington 5 - neat and tidy, but no one real attacking threat Kelly 1st half 4 - looked off the pace 2nd half 7 - our best player 2nd half and looked the most likely to draw us level. Rutherford 4 - runs around a lot. No end product and lacks quality. Crosses lack pace and direction. Does not anticipate what is going on around him. Sorry but not good enough. Boden 6 - tidy player and I think he will be a success, if we can get enough quality around him. Massanka 5 - never really a threat. Thought Keates should of brought Macreth on much earlier. Both him and holroyd weren't on long enough to really get into the game. Plenty of work needed for the next game. |
