Default Re: Ratings vs Macclesfield

Dunn 3 - bloody awful, one thing to do and my @rse could have prevented that awful goal!
Jennings 6 - huffed and puffed but that was it.
Smith 7 - rightly MOM from Wrexham, did basics well and kept #8 at bay 2nd half.
Pearson 6 - average
Roberts 6 - worked hard but not special
Kelly 6 - good but had no outlets, should shine when this gets sorted
Carrington 4 - go forwards you plank!!! Ends.
Wedgebury 3 - dire, no energy and looked disinterested apart from kicking people. If you want to be a CB then jog on we have two very capable ones already!
Rutherford 7 - worked his socks off but tired as game went on, did his job well.
Boden 6 - worked hard but dropped into midfield too much to cover for useless Wedgebury and Carrington partnership, resulted in him being quiet second half.
Holmroyd 6 - tried hard against his old club, let's hope he does the same against other opponents!

Subs

Massanka - 4 Poor and not the answer. Go home to Burnley.
Macreif - 6 not on long enough for more
Wright - 6 better than Carrington and Wedgebury after only 6 minutes!
Leo Smith - where were you?!! Get on this pitch and continue to prove the doubters wrong!!
Dibble - Get your gloves out boy, Dunn can't teach you anything on today's performance!!

Keates and Darlo - 5 Terrible starting 11 selection as obvious going to lose CM battle, second half better but OMG get anyone to get on the end of a cross first!!

Rutherford did his job well??? You realise his job was a footballer? A winger at that? You realise he was suppose to beat the full back and put ball into the box? Or maybe cut in and have a few shots, or in extreme circumstances provide cover for Roberts. Now if his job was to run aimlessly in straight lines, failing to beat a player, missing glaring opportunities and not provide one telling cross then I totally agree. As it is to say he did his job is fiction

Leo Smith doubters??? What you on about, I'd say most who have seen him in pre season will all agree he impressed and it's clear he's work hard over the summer.

And Rutherford 'did his job well' what was his job? If it was what a winger does is beat a man and whip dangerous balls in he certainly didn't do that, hopeful punts with snow on he's good at that.

Luckily i didn't see a single game last season so today should've been better, am i correct? First half we were really poor. 2nd half after presumably the hair dryer treatment they actually looked interested, in parts. Positional play was awful throughout, spaces were created and no players ran into them eager for the ball. This did my head in big time today. Im not going to pick on individuals but if any of them think they had a great game today they need to reflect again. We need 1 creative midfielder and 1 quality striker.

Opinions are opinions, thought Rutherford worked hard down his side chasing lost causes in the main and yes, putting balls into the box - just a crying shame that we have no striker in the middle with the ability to get on the end of anything! Happy being shot down as shows others care too, wasn't suggesting he was superman or ought just that he got up and down the line and put something in the box- more than the central midfielders did anyway!

Also Leo Smith doubters are clear - he wasn't even in the squad today and has been given little/no chance of first team start by most commenting on pre-season. Ok I'm a fan as think he offers something different, was disappointed not to see him in action today.

The problem with Rutherford is he gets into the position to deliver a cross but cannot deliver it with the required accuracy. Instead of picking out a man or whipping it in with pace he just lofts the ball in aimlessly which is why he is an average conference player at best.

It's not the cm's job to put balls into the box so you would hope that Rutherford would have done a better job. However wedgebury chipped one towards the back post in the 2nd half that created a resemblance of a chance so even he managed more in terms of crosses than the hapless Rutherford. If keates starts with him and carrington on Tuesday we have issues. The fact they were in the starting line up today is questionable in itself. Leo Smith needs to be in the squad and offers far more than rutherford.

Exactly. Apart from the fact that saying he gets into positions to deliver crosses suggests he has worked for those positions. Generally somebody else does well and feeds the ball to him. It could be any of us standing there and lobbing an aimless ball into the box, you would think by now he would realise he can't whip a ball with his left foot so why the hell, after he has failed miserably to beat the man on the outside, does he attempt to put a ball in with his weak foot which inevitably ends up behind the strikers as he mis hits it.
