Carrington - ask Halifax to give us our money back . Full backs are the last players you should pay a fee on. What a waste of limited resources

For me

Dunn

Roberts
Manny
Pearson
Jennings

Kelly
Wedgebury
Wright

Massanka / Holroyd
Boden
Makreth

(New striker instead of Massanka/Holroyd and if he's a big b****r then put him in the middle and move Boden out wide of a front 3)

Dunn should be shot for not saving the shot for their winner. Back four solid when midfield aren't interfering and thought Roberts played well (Wouldn't ask Halifax for anything back as think we've got a good player on our hands here if used in the right way!!). Midfield - Kelly (needed more support from the others as had no options all day!), Wedgebury (flipping get a grip of yourself and put your wasted energy into moving - second half a million times better as was a midfielder rather than extra CB!), Carrington (just get on the bench where you belong or go suck up another clubs wedge!), Rutherford (tried hard and good crosses that no-one got on the end of, even got on the end of one himself in the box but it's not his role and put it over). Bowden worked really hard but had to go fetch as wasn't being fed, Holmroyd tried hard before getting crocked by the stationary advertising hoarding and Massanka (tried to hold it up but distribution was chronic and end product non-existent... go back to Burnley lad and cream off as much wedge as you can before being released into pub grade!). Mackreif and Wright improved the team but should have come on sooner. Where was Leo Smith who could have massively impacted the central midfield attack and changed the game?! Keates 5/10 today unfortunately meant of 6,180 attendees we'll be lucky to see 3,500 next home game. Shame but standard start.

Default Re: Midfield and formation

Our forward line is weaker than water - just no strength. Centre backs for Macc had control all match and probably will struggle to have an easier Saturday afternoon.

Interestingly Pearson went up front for the last 5 minutes leaving Smith on his own in the centre back position. We immediately looked more of a threat and he came close to scoring with an overhead scorpion type kick from a right flank cross that sadly was played just behind him.

Perhaps we need some brute up front prepared to push and jostle the centre backs in the Matt Rhead mould - there's nothing there at present with enough physical presence to let the centre backs know they have been in a game.

Hopefully on Monday a new striker with the right physicality and nastiness (within the laws of the game) will arrive.

No coincidence that the chance he had came when mackreth was on and there was at least some decent service for anybody in the box
