I can only comment on first half near the MRS, but both players played a loose pass and each time they were rollocked by the other one. To me it looked more like a bit of frustration with the sloppiness and with themselves. We need players who are vocal so I wouldn't read too much into that. I am more concerned the 14 players on show didn't reach the level needed, to deserve anything from the game.

My point is that we have right backs in Carrington and Hurst, so to pay a transfer fee for another one and then hand him a two year contract is reckless.
We shall see. My point being you're judging him after 90 minutes.

Roberts is highly thought of and will be a cracking signing imo

There was a lot of hesitancy too - the ball being passed sideways or backwards too often with any advantage we gained frequently lost as we don't move the ball fast enough up the field.

I am not a fan of playing one man up front but given our current playing staff and the fact that we are away from home on Tuesday night the above formation reminds me of Macclesfield yesterday - packing midfield and with wide men on either flank plus a bit of steel by Wright.

Already the subs bench looks 'lightweight' so if both Rutherford and Mackreth start there is little in the form of second half impact we can bring on.

All this of course could be scuppered with the arrival of a new striker on Monday if it comes off.
You didn't see ant long punt's?

Did you miss the first half?

Agree with that - a proper right back has landed.

Out of all the signings we have made Hurst must be the most underwhelming - pre season fixtures he featured involved hoofball anywhere without looking and as for Carrington I'm afraid the old pals act with Keates has already extended his retention in the squad which should have ended with the majority of the other players that were cleared out end of last season. He is never a right back and not good enough in midfield.

Sometimes it seemed we were 4-4-2 and sometimes 4-3-3 with Rutherford the player changing position. Seems we are lacking a controlling playmaker in the middle and a target man. It's the first game of the season mind. Hopefully Darlo can help work on transition, style of play and formation. Second half was a decent performance. Game 1 of many, time needed for the new squad!

This, we went to pieces for about half an hour after the goal and seemed to totally forget our game plan. 2nd half we got the ball down well but still the movement was poor. On most attacking throws no one was moving into space for the thrower. Lots to work on but hope we don't see the same 11 in the same formation.

I would like to see 433 on Tuesday with maybe Leo Smith playing advanced left as Holroyd is out, Mackreth on the right and Wright in a midfield 3 with Wedge and Kelly.

Well it was definitely 4 at the back and after that it was a mess.
Wedgbury sitting on top of the 2CBs doesn't make sense and he should have pushed 5 yards further forward into the centre circle - wtf Carrington was doing I don't know because if Wedgbury sits then then other CM has license to push forward. Carrington doesn't have that ability. Kelly or Wright would have been a better choice in the centre.

No much passing went through the midfield and it was left to the 2 CBs to either hoof or ping passes into the channels.

All in all it looked a mess first half.
