No more playing Kelly out wide as he's so much more effective as a creative player in a more central position . Losing Holroyd so early didn't help either as he was causing problems.
Good summary!

Carrington and Wedgbury meant we had 0 creativity in midfield. Its no coincidence we looked better when we moved to a 433 and we had the extra man in midfield.

Leo Smith could have come on Saturday, Kelly should have been moved sooner, and we need a striker to complement Boden...

We'll see what changes come tomorrow evening, but we need to make more chances, and have someone convert them... I'm sick of seeing a toothless Wrexham, cos we have been for years, but I am confident things will get better

Pretty much this.

Key concerns are a lack of shape even in a 442 or was it a 4 31/2 2 1/2 formation or possibly
a 4111111 as it seemed.

Starting 11 was wrong and concerned that Carrington and Rutherford both started. Part of last seasons failures and bit part players at best.

Poor use of subs and a general tactical lacking.

More negatives than positives in the team.

Management need to make changes for Tuesday.

Same as pre season.
We can't keep a clean sheet to save our lives.
Despite wholesale changes to the squad we couldn't score last season and having witnessed the majority of pre season games and Saturday I see massive similarities already this season - where will the goals come from because we didn't really test Jalal all match - this with a partisan 6,100 (less 400 away) baying for blood.
Our forward line looks weak and will be out muscled and out fought by big burly opposition centre halves every week.
Losing Holroyd was a massive blow.
Starting Carrington in midfield ahead of Leo Smith and Akil Wright.

Had Keates paired Carrington and Wegbury in the middle at any point during pre-season?

Can't argue with any of that.

I'm sure Keates and Darlington will alter things ahead of Maidenhead.

Osian Roberts was watching on Saturday too. I wouldn't mind him having a word in Darlo's ear!

Agreed. A number of players showed their quality but weren't on the ball enough to be effective. Boden and Kelly strike me as two in particular who that applied to. I also thought Boden tired a lot towards the end and he wasn't meant to play 90 minutes. It is a concern given our fairly tight schedule early in the season. We can't afford to lose him on top of Holroyd.

Following, and maybe because of, such a positive summer, there seems to be a surprising amount of negativity on here, much more than I would have expected and not just the usual suspects.

For those who are particularly negative, what is the key concern?
