Default Maidenhead ratings

Just back home, far from vintage or fluid but away wins are as rare as hen's teeth and we saw the game out well:

Dunn 7 - recovered well from Saturday error, some strong catches and punches under pressure and saved us at the end
Roberts 7 solid and competent
Smith 9 - typical Manny performance and scored 2 goals, what more can you ask?!
Pearson 7 - assured and calm, no nonsense
Jennings 6 - generally ok defending just does some crap frustrating things
Rutherford 5 - sorry just not good enough, runs around a lot like a dog just a poor footballer
Carrington 6- surprisingly ok! battled well but will always be limited
Wedgbury 8 - this was the player I hoped we had signed, really committed performance and was everywhere
Kelly 6 - clearly a class footballer but a peripheral figure for too much of the game
Massanka 6 - tried hard but 1st touch is dreadful and his header the wrong way was pure comedy. I still see some raw talent just makes too many bad decisions at the moment
Boden 5 - one good shot on the turn 1st half otherwise really poor and again a peripheral figure

subs

Mackreth and Wright 7 - good subs at right times, injected pace and energy
Hurst not on long enough to rate

Keates 8 - got the subs right and tactica just about

Agree apart from Boden who was worth a 6. We will have to work out how to get the best out of him because hoofing long balls up to him won't. Maybe the new CF will help. And Rutherford just about scraped a 6 too.,

Carrington played ok but the difference when Wright came on was really noticeable. He runs forward with the ball at pace from central positions. Sure he's a bit raw and it doesn't always come off but he's offensive by nature as well as adding strength and personally I'd start with him.

Friendly little club. Lot of local players but likely to go down (despite Devonshire) as spirit and a couple of decent players won't be enough in a long old season.

Dunn 7 - commanded his area, punched well and made a vital save at the end

Roberts 6 - much better than Saturday, linked up with Ruthers well
Smith 9 - won every header, never troubled and scored 2 goals MOTM
Pearson 8 - again the rock on which the win was built could have been MOTM
Jennings 7 - much bette than Saturday, worked his socks off

Rutherford 6 - usual Rutherford, worked hard down the right with little output. Looked like he got a stud down the back of the heel and was limping before he went off.
Carra 6 - better than Saturday, when we were on top, him and the Wedge held it together
Wedgbury 7 - starting to see the player we have bought. He moved the ball forward at every opportunity and crowded the opposition when they had the ball. Only negative comment is that he went missing on a couple of occasions.
Kelly 7 - he will be a match winner one day and frustrating on the next. Had a couple of great chances and if memory serves me right, he crossed for Manny's first goal

Boden 5 - Scott didn't look interested tonight but then again, he had a couple of chances that got away from him. Wasn't surprised when he was replaced.
Massanka 6 - worked hard with little output. Needs to learn to hold onto the ball and lay it off.

Mackreth 7 - laid on Manny's 2nd goal and looked much better
Wright 8 - not in long but like a few around me, thought that he could have started. His direct running frightened the light out of Maidenhead
Hurst 7 - not in long enough

Once we had scored our 2nd DK reverted to 4-4-1-1. This ensured the win thanks to Dunn
Onward and hopefully upward

Not a great performance but once we got the second goal we saw out the game quite comfortably. Wright has to start on Saturday, made a big difference when he came on. Keates also has to find a way to get kelly more involved, when he gets on the ball he's quality.

I said it on Saturday and again tonight,Carrington and Wedge are too defensive being played together, would hope Wright starts on Saturday as he is more offensive and I think McKreth should start instead of Rutherford
