Why haven't we beaten Dover though? If we are serious about going up we need to be winning or at least drawing at Dover. Motivation should not be a factor. If Keates and Darlington can't get the player motivated for a match they are in the wrong job.

Problem we have with such a small squad is that we have very little options to change. Like many on here I though a small squad of professional players was the right way to go. Now seeing the issues we face in Midfield and Attack im not so sure.

As has been said other teams have assembles new squads with less money and have hit the ground running. Why haven't we? Unfortunately we can't be leaving it till Christmas to be getting the squad right. By then it will make getting a ply off place difficult as hell.

On average we lose more often when traveling further. While we have lost to north west teams away we've also beaten our fair share as well in recent times, but those extra long treks we have seemingly done less well at.

Besides, we're only 3 games into a new season and have played 2 away games involving a lot of travel. I was encouraged by the 2nd half v Macc and although not great midweek came away with a narrow win. Clean sheets are an issue and also lack of goals but with time I'm sure we'll pick up more points.

Interesting claim. I'd like to see some stats to back it up, and a comparison to other teams results for distant aways.

We never seem to do what the likes of Aldershot have done start the season well, and I think a lot of that is down to poor preseason preparation, apart from playing little sides for matchfitness we should be playing his first choice starting 11 for at least 2 preseason games against good opposition, we need to get back to the likes of Isle of Man tournaments with not being able to play home fixtures, we're starting the season without knowing our best 11 and formation, the season starts and the games are like preseason games still experimenting not up to speed, top teams are fired up and ready to go from the kick off.

We had a very good gate with lots of optimism first game which has nearly gone after 3 games.

With this non stop rain a midweek game I will be surprised if we get 3000 if they didn't count season tickets we wouldn't have i for one won't be attending tomorrow due to other commitments.

Would be interesting to know what we make from the gigs v the potential benefits of playing better teams at home in friendlies.

looking at Aldershot's friendlies they did play Wycombe, Brentford and Ebbsfleet as well as Chelsea development squad. They have a v settled squad though so that may have a bearing, albeit the 'time to gel' quote is a massive cop out.

Aldershot are simply better than us. They beat us at the racecourse last season and looked very good and have kept most of the squad from last season.
