Default New striker thread........again.

It seemed rude not to have another as we're still waiting.

Whoever it is is going to have a job if we play the style we have started with. I was no Jordan White lover but DK released him as he didn't suit the style we wanted to play yet first 3 games we have reverted to hoofball as soon as we are under any pressure so White would be a good shout in that style.

Assuming that is not how DK tells them to play, and it certainly shouldnt be with our current personnel, why are the players doing it - fear? Being pressurised by more tactically superior opponents?

In the 1st 3 gamea I have seen talented players who with the exception of probably the centre halves seem nervous, lost and unsure of how they are meant to be playing. That is why I am worried after only 3 games. If we had played well and looked to have tactical nous and a style of play and still lost 2 I would be fine with that.

Back on topic then whoever this striker is needs to be a different and complementary style to Boden but unless the midfield start creating the new guy is likely to end up as Boden has first 3 games, isolated and dejected for the most part.

Sorry to sound so negative, living in Sussex it is unusual for me to attend 3 consecutive games so as I have done that I wanted to share my insight. I may find myself more positive not seeing us in the flesh and following our progress on here and twitter!!

What you say is absolutely spot on. The majoroty of fans agree with you but, inexplicably, some fans and our management do not see it in the same way.

Kelly and Mackreth have got to deliver as far as creation is concerned.

I don't really see this coming from anyone else in the current squad.

From what I've seen in training, I'd go along with your assertion that the current hoofball is down to the players rather than tactics. There's a focus on patterns of play and movement in training which isn't being reflected by what we're seeing on the pitch.

I think the transition into playing how Dean and Carl want them to is going to take longer than expected judging by the performances so far. Whether this is down to nerves or the fact that they are having to learn a new style of play is anyone's guess but at least signing a big centre forward will go someway to counteracting they're current lack of application.

So are we expecting a loan striker this week as gossip around suggests the protracted deal for the permanent player is virtually dead in the water now?

Any names been mentioned?

Having seen 2 matches so far its clear to me that there are fundamental problems with the team/tactics which is disappointing because i assumed that pre season was the time to sort these issues out. Clearly there is an issue up front , we are unable to keep and control the ball so it keeps coming straight back causing the defence to be under pressure (and concede a goal a game) Midfield is lob sided and tends to get by passed by the hoofball from defence (which then comes straight back etc etc) . Because we have such a small squad ( and with a few players not yet 100% fit) Dean doesn’t have that many options with the squad.
He has until the end of August to bring in players ( and he needs a few) lets hope this happens. Because unless he does we will continue to have a losing habit rather than a winning one

No idea; having chased this player for so long it would be disappointing to have to settle for another loan player.

Half your senior strikers being loanees 3 games into the season is not a good place to be; particularly if one of your perminent strikers is out injured.

It's obvious Keates has misses out on some first choice signings - that's ok and understandable but he needs someone in quickly who will make an instant impact. Depends how long his list was earlier in the summer and how far down it he's had to go...
