To get promotion you need to be tough, strong, and grind out 1-0 wins when you've played poorly.

I like Keates's ideas, just need to fine tune it now by making a couple of small changes.

We are a work in progress, and will get better with time.

To compare us with that Grimsby side would require :

Another centre half
Creative midfield player
Another striker in addition to Reid

I doubt very much if we have the funds for that unless we could send out on loan Marx, Hurst, and Boden, and then hit the jackpot on Moult.

It's beginning to shape into a transition season and we can look to building on the solid back four next summer ; probably already worth popping down to Ladbrokes and putting money on this lot being released next May:

McCreth
Wedgebury
Kelly
Boden
Holroyd
Hurst
Another variation on Jack Mackreth

Agree with this. I don't think people give Massanka the credit he deserves. If he times his runs a bit better he could get 2-3 one on ones with the keeper every game. Also works hard and at least he is making the runs it the first place.

I thought he contributed more than Boden last night and held the ball up well, won a couple of free kicks and was a key part of the goal. I could see him and Reid forming a good partnership based on the last 20 mins of the Gateshead game. Especially against teams which lack pace at the back.

I didn't think at that stage he had contributed more but still felt the decision was right. He looked a good foil for Reid but I would like to see Reid and Bowden together before deciding.

Interested in your viewpoint as lots disagree. Why do you think taking off Boden was the better decision? Most around me were shocked when he came off

Last night it wasn't Massankas timing of the runs but the time Jennings and Kelly took to see the run, by which time he was off side.

I thought Massanka was miles better when Reid came on. He linked well with him . Clearly Boden and Massanka aren't doing this, it's not a natural partnership.

Massanka I think will come good, cannot fault his endeavour and he was nearly through a few times if not for the offside flag.

Boden doesn't look too good at the moment. He never seems to be in the right spot.

Reid looked at a whole different level when he came on.

It's early days. Everyone is gonna beat everyone else just need to stay in the race

Sorry but you are taking through your rear...

McKreth getting back to fitness after missing a lot of pre season with injury.

Wedgebury a solid CM engine that will get better once fine tuned.

Kelly is being played out of position and doesn't have the pace to be a LM in my opinion. A few assists already to his name.

Boden has hardly played any football in the last 12 months and is getting back to match fitness. That's why I feel he has been taken off in the last two games. He has great touch and control and with the right striking partner will come good.

Holroyd has played 25 mins of competitive football and got injured. In those 25 mins he was full of energy and looked a good runner for strike partner Boden.

Hurst will get his chances but needs to be patient. The Jury is out on him for me.
