Surely it's a coincidence otherwise southern teams would be top of all other leagues including the Conference north

Pay gap yes, but also much larger living costs.

You get paid an extra amount to work in London, because living in London is so bloody expensive compared to everywhere else... The money you're left with at the end of the month wouldn't be too different.

I know people who were paid much more and it still didn't make enough of a difference for them to stay there. It's extortionate there.

Same here. I have friends who have come from down South and are amazed at how cheap things are up North and in Wales.

Its 4 games in, far too early to be talking of a "southern dominance"

Closest to them is Ebbsfleet.

The highest placed northern based teams are Gateshead in 9th and ourselves in 10th.

It will be interesting to see if this is a trend that continues. I have long suspected that the better players at this level are London based

Could be some truth in this but doesn't explain why Grimsby and Lincoln have been promoted over the last few seasons.

Let's see where we are in a few months!

I believe there is some basis of an idea here and that it is why the part-time southern sides do OK on not so great budgets. Decent part-time players can get a reasonable wage from their football playing and it's a supplement to their day job. Why would they, unless they have huge self belief, go down the route of signing for a club and taking just that wage with the associated risks that go with it, e.g. being released.

I was based in London for 3 years and I can tell you that many many people are struggling to keep a roof over their heads and as for young people getting a home forget it. Travel costs are not only extortionate but essential then you have all the little extras like cost of a home and sky high rents etc etc.
There is nothing in the South that's better than the Midlands,Wales or the North in fact many many things are exceedingly fine and a much better place to live and work. Sounds to me the Foxy must live down their and is trying to brain wash the rest of us into believing they are better than the rest of us !
