Default Southern Bias

Granted we are only 4 games into the season but the league has a distinct southern bias to it. The top 7 in the play off places are
Aldershot
Sutton
Dover
Bromley
Dagenham
Boreham Wood
Maidenhead

Closest to them is Ebbsfleet.

The highest placed northern based teams are Gateshead in 9th and ourselves in 10th.

It will be interesting to see if this is a trend that continues. I have long suspected that the better players at this level are London based

Shape of things to come and caused by population change and socio economic conditions; the south east is booming in terms of its younger dynamic population and many clubs in the north in long term decline for the opposite reason. Also more money in the south east in terms of those who own the clubs.

Interesting theory, i would say its more a London bias than a southern bias though.

Possible reasons:
Larger pool of players to choose from with over 8.5million people living in London
Teams closer to London are more attractive to investors

Maybe Tranmere's next move will be to relocate south of Watford!

Listen sonny, I know it's getting to you because you have to go back to school in a few weeks, but there's no need for that.

Better to look how things finished last year, the top 10:

Lincoln City
Tranmere Rovers
Forest Green Rovers
Dagenham & Redbridge
Aldershot Town
Dover Athletic
Barrow
Gateshead
Macclesfield Town
Bromley

Four teams from the south-east, five from the north, and Forest Green from wherever The Wind in the Willows was set. That seems fairly balanced to me.
