Default Maidstone ratings

Just home, livid with the ref at the time but having calmed down Manny was rightly sent off for a professional foul and Carra, albeit harshly booked, was then absolutely stupid, having seen what the ref was like, to gob off and deservedly sent off. Hope he gets dropped when his ban is up.

Such a tough game to rate as we were genuinely pretty good first half and undone by 2 set pieces and crap goalkeeping.

Second half with 11 men we were useless then showed great fight with 9 and possibly could have stolen a ridiculously unlikely point.

I am bizarrely more positive than I was after the Dover game but obviously worrying we have lost 3 of the 5 games and if we are to get to the playoffs we need to keep hold of Reid and ideally get 2-3 new players.

Dibble - averages out at a 6, a clown 1st half, immense 2nd half. There is a good keeper somewhere but needs consistency.

Roberts 6 - ok
Smith 6 - was normal manny before sending off which was a clumsy tackle but the guy would probably have scored.
Pearson 8 - ok with 11 men, basically a 1 man defence with 9 men and was immense in last third of the game
Jennings 5 - did ok 1st half but silly booking, didn't get forward well enough 2nd half and his attitide makes him a liability
Carrington 3 - average performance but brain dead to get sent off. Hope we don't see him again for a while
Wedgbury 7 - decent all game but him and Pearson were immense with 9 men
Rutherford 6 - think he crossed in for the goal, not 100% sure if it was him or Roberts. In and out of the game, possibly unlucky to be subbed
Kelly 4 - needs to be dropped, offered the square root of f all
Reid 6 - great goal and a superb outlet 1st half, faded badly 2nd
Boden 6 - looked much better playing with Reid but again faded 2nd

subs

Massanka Wright and Hurst all 6 as they played their parts in backs to the wall performance with 9 men but never looked like doing much attacking wise

Disagree, all the bookings were unbelievable and Mannys red was also harsh. The free kick for their goal also unfairly given. A ref clearly out of his depth

Dibble first half 1 second half 8
Jennings 4
Pearson 9 MOM excellent
Manny 6
Roberts 3
Kelly 1 - awful display
Wedgebury 5
Carrington 5
Rutherford 5
Reid 8
Boden 1 dismal display

Agree bookings were harsh and not saying ref was good in any way but don't think either sending off was wrong in the circumstances. Would need to see the free kick decisions that led to their goals again but if they were wrong we still didn't defend them.

I wasn't there so don't know what the tackle was like, but this is the new law for tackling a player who is the last man -

A foul on a running striker committed by the last man of the defence will no longer result in a direct red card and suspension, unless the foul is violent or consists in a hand-ball in the box. As long as the foul is judged to be an honest attempt at taking the ball, the defender will only be shown a yellow card.

So could Manny's red be rescinded?

In attempt to win the ball you can't issue a red card, Carrington informs the ref of this and he sends him off?!? How is that justified?

I was waiting to see the tackle but this is my take on our appeal . Someone at the game said he got the ball but went through the player. That would not constitute a red card under the new law. Doesn't surprise me that the PR stunt that is Allison has fked up again

Well hopefully it can be rescinded then but Carra has obviously not said 'excuse me old chap, sorry to bother you but are you sure that's the right decision' - he's on a yellow and had a go at a lunatic ref and got the logical outcome.

Yeah it is beyond me how that man is allowed to officiate at this level after his performences last season, he is absolutely awful at his job and it wouldn't surprise me if many clubs have complained about him to the National League.
