My information was that Padraig Amond ex Grimsby Town is / was destined for Tranmere Rovers and we get their unwanted cast off Andy Cook who has been our number 1 target all summer.(subject to meddling & interference by agents). As we all know, this has been going on for weeks - something somewhere will give - and soon.

Amond has burnt his boat big style with the Hartlepool fans so it's looking very much like there's no going back.

Alternative suggestions to Tranmere bound.

Newport County - why would be contemplate a move there ?

He hails from Carlow, South east Republic of Ireland - ferry crossing between Pembroke & Rosslare might provide appealing for roots / family visits.

Shrewsbury Town ? (or any other north west based club) - immediate family believed based in Manchester.

He'll be on his bike but will he remain at National League level or return to a L2 club ? He's 29 and under contract so a fee will be involved.
