Or setting a precedent. If you cave in once you set a stall for all future deals.

Agents talk to each other.

The vast majority of players at this level now have agents. That's the way football is.

Thing is we are now running out of time aren't we ? Aren't we having to do our deals by 31st August. Tick tock. If we don't get a permanent signing(s) by then we may continue to be mediocre.

I know a football agent. A successful one at that.

At this level, he takes his fee out of the players signing on fee (if there is one). Or the player pays him a very small percentage of his annual earnings.

But generally it doesn't take up much of their time, and they're essentially waiting for that player to make a big move, involving a transfer fee. That's when the agent makes their money.

Doesn't the article say that the agent wants a fee for a 2 minute phone call not that the agent has been bypassed?

I think Keates is playing hard ball.

If the player and both clubs agreed my guess is that the deal will go through with or without intervention of the agent.

I would say watch this space

That's what I would have thought... If the clubs want the deal, and the player wants the deal, would they really let an agent scupper it over wanting being paid for a two minute phone call..

On one hand I respect Dean's decision to not be messed around by a slimey agent
On the other hand, if the player was decent, could he have swallowed his pride and paid the fee?

Absolutely with Keates on this.
Agree to an extent, if it's (As an example) Amond, and the agent wanted a four figure fee - Would that not be a fair investment? If it's five figures then it starts becoming a bit silly, but think it depends on the player, unfortunately as fans we'll never know who it was, or how much the agent wanted.

We move on to the next possibility, whoever that may be, I'm sure Keates is no fool and wll already have a backup plan in place.
