Default Re: Woking Ratings

Dibble 7 - not much to do. Kicking was decent and claimed a few crosses

Hurst 8 - did the simple stuff well. Looks solid. Prefer him to the other options

Smith 9 - again was faced with a strong lump and repelled everything. Made a great last ditch tackle 2nd half too

Pearson 8 - both centre backs were immense

Jennings 7 did ok. I know he got the goal but distribution is awful from the back. Did put some good deep crosses in though

Wedgebury 6 - still not totally convinced

Wright 9 MOM can tackle, intercept, win aerial battles and drive forward. Must keep his place

Kelly 6.5 - we looked more dangerous when he found himself central.

Rutherford 5- standard running around, and giving the ball away.

Massanka 5 - started well. Won a few headers and linked up ok with those around him. But after a promising start was so frustrating. Poor touch, and finishing

Reid. 7.5 busy all afternoon. Makes so many little runs off the ball, put their cb under pressure and forced mistakes. Should have scored though

Default Re: Woking Ratings

Dibble - 7 very safe hands again but not really tested.

Manny - 9 my MOTM and easily took care of their brute of a striker.

Pearson - 8 Mr dependable and solid.

Jennings - 7 a more composed performance.

Hurst - 7 had a good first half but seem to get the runaround late on, so perhaps a lack of match fitness.

Wright - 8 was very direct and put himself about. He definitely needs to keep his place in the team and his match fitness will get him through the 90 mins (he looked leggy after the hour).

Wedgbury - 6 hit a few wayward passes but did OK today.

Kelly - 5 did well when on the ball, but we don't use him enough and he goes missing in games.

Mackreth - 5 looks to be made of glass and didn't really show anything.

Reid - 8 a great striker with a sweet left peg. Wish we could keep him longer. Reminds me of Kayden Jackson a bit.

Massanka - 5 huffed and puffed a lot without any quality. Won a few headers but easily knocked off the ball and a poor first touch let him down too many times.

Rutherford - 5 ran around a lot, but needs to offer more going forward.

Smith - not on long enough

Boden - not on long enough

Official Match ratings:

Dibble 6 very little to do.

Hurst 6 offered little going forward but defended adequately.

Jennings 6 as hurst.

Manny smith 8 our best player again. Took the Woking number 9 out of the game. Ruined the Woking game plan.

Pearson 7 no nonsense performance from our captain.

Wedgebury 6 runs his socks off but gives the ball away far too much.

Wright 5 a presence in midfield but struggled to find his own player for the full 90 minutes. Little improvement on the much criticized carrington.

Kelly 6 showed some nice touches and our most likely player to create something.

Macketh 5 not on long enough to make much impact

Massanka 5.5 mainly for effort. His game is far to inconsistent. Made some decent lay offs but far too often his first touch let's him down. Had a good chance to score and put a good ball through to Reid near the end.

Reid 5.5 looked a threat in and around the box and linked up with massanka reasonably well. A lack of support and creativity does not help any of our forwards.

Rutherford 5 "busy" as always... little final ball and always nearly on the end of a through ball.

Smith 5 not on long enough to make a difference. Did okay in the period he played.

Boden - not on long enough.

Overall it was a very scrappy, drab affair with very little quality from either team. For all those crying out for wright to replace carrington, there was very little improvement in the midfield. We are set-up not to lose games and it has zero entertainment value. We move on with three points, but we lack a Lee fowler type midfielder to dictate the pace of the game and get a team playing football. It's a shame penn didn't resign - a better footballer than wedgebury with a big presence in midfield. Hurst did better than I anticipated after seeing his performances pre-season.

It was not "much better", it was "more of the same" dull football we have become accustomed to watch in recent times. I'm hoping keates hasn't finished signing players in the current transfer window.

I think Massanka's head dropped when he missed them couple of chances. Don't think he was going off until then.

Wright was a revelation. Brought the game to them with direct drives forward and made the link between midfield and strikers. Knows how to put a foot in and wins battles in the air. HAS to start next match.
