This. Midfield creativity is the major weakness in my opinion.

Positives - Preston like Dibble is better than Dunn
. . . . . . . . . Centre halves rock solid
. . . . . . . . . Wright an asset in midfield
. . . . . . . . . A fully fit Mackreth will be an asset
Negatives.- Rutherford is a passenger - sacrifice for No. 10 or creative mid
. . . . . . . . . .For all his pace Reid does not know when to pass or takes on 1 too many
. . . . . . . . . Leo Smith suffered due to zero support/overlapping from Carrington
. . . . . . . . . .Boden appears on different wavelength to rest of team-flicks/passes too often go astray and head seems to go down.
. Dfficult to judge progress as 5 clean sheets in a row but goalscoring a big problem. 2 new strikers in would make huge difference-on tonight's performance any of the current 4 expendable. Pity however that Boden is not the short term loanee as at least Reid has pace.

Get Kelly playing the CAM role. We're direly missing him at the moment.

I'm a wrexile, living up north and currently dealing with serious health issues which make my attendance at matches impossible and probably will do for some time, so I'm barely qualified to post on this. However, it seems to me the stats don't lie. It's clear, as many suspected, we've got possibly the most solid back line in the league. It's also clear that, as many suggest, we're lacking creativity in the middle and are pretty toothless up front thanks, it sounds, largely to do with the midfield deficiency, whether that be a personnel issue, a tactical one, or a combination of both.

But without that creativity, without the goals, we're in the play-off positions. If anyone were to tell me before the season started that we'd struggle for goals, often provide dull, uninspiring football....but be in this position, with crowds of 3000-4000 plus, I'd have bitten their hand off. It's very obvious that the entire structure, the management as well as the team are a work in progress. Goals win games, clean sheets prevent losses. For now I'll take the latter and trust in DK to fix the rest, given time. If I remember, DK lost out on some transfer targets....who knows the difference they might've made. Hopefully the next transfer window will be kinder. Of course, if any of our strikers hit a run of form (not impossible) so much the better. As for now, it could be a lot, lot worse. DK got the defence right, I trust him in time to get the rest right. He admitted he wanted Darlo in partially to learn from, and we'll only see the fruits of that in time. We just have to be patient and do the right and proper thing.....get behind the team every time they don the shirt.

10 games in the score out of 10 for Keates is 6 average. Yes he has built a strong defence but that's because he plays 2 defensive midfielders infront off it, Manny and Pearson looked solid again tonight Carrington and Roberts did ok but they aren't wingbacks.

To be fair to Keates it was not guaranteed all his signings would work having built a complete new side, Boden looks a huge disappointment at the moment a lot on here before he signed made him sound like the Suarez of lower league.

On the positive side good teams are built from the back not conceding many. So far that part looks good, he now desperately needs to sort the midfield and tactics out.

All isn't lost we are 2 points off the top and if our goals scored wasn't so bad we could of been 3rd still.

I can see Hartlepool definitely challenging that's 4 games unbeaten for them they are improving and away from home were the better side.

For the avoidance of doubt, I think Dean Keates is doing a fantastic job. The team is becoming settled, he's made some fantastic signings, and appointed the right coach. Oh and got rid of all the shite Mills signed. Oh and we are nearly top after ten games.

Good points but now settled we need to see some improvements on top of the solid base. Far better to win 2 in 4 than draw 3.

I am not particularly happy, but I do think that we have pusnched above our weight this season. We are 6th, but if we had snuck a winner last night, we could be top. Our squad has lots of limitations, but we are grinding out results (albeit it boring). If the Trust is sitting on a serious pile of cash, why have they not let some of it fall in Keates' lap? Margins are tight in this league. No one playing really well. It could be a damned sight worse! (Despite the views of the 50 posts a day brigade).
