Default Pearson

One of the highlights of this season has been Pearson and Manny's centre back partnership. He's a fantastic captain , highlighted by the fact he interrupted the ridiculous equaliser celebrations and literally dragged the players up to go for the win!

At last we have a positive post, bleeding hell what did people expect from
A complete rebuilt team, put 2 centre halfs are the best in the league by far.
None of us are happy with current form but the nagativuty on this forum is diabolical for this time of the season.

People expected us to be able to create some chances and look threatning.
People expected us to be able to keep some sustained possession and play with some tempo and incisiveness.
People expected us not to play with negative defensive tactics especially at home.
People expected us not to play with two defensive midfielders, especially at home.
People expected us to not hoof balls aimlessly into channels, providing no meaningful service to the front men.

Other new teams have managed the above. We haven't.
People are right to expect better.

To be fair it was Rutherford who reacted 1st and got the ball out of the net. However Pearson has had a great start in general. It's just a pity that our midfield sit so deep that they are on top of the him and Pearson hence we lose so much ball.

What's this got to do with Pearson?

Pearson is also the player who goes to ground at every set piece, which is embarrassing for a captain.

That said, some big dramatic run back to the halfway line to go again is just comic drama really. The more likely outcome was always going to be Guiseley breaking away as we pressed for a second so it was the moment to take a leaf out of Cox book; kill the game and take the draw rather than risk all and throw it away. I like a bit of football drama as much as the next person but if you're in transition and struggling to grind stuff out then you have to take what you have and not imagine that having created little in 90 you're going to suddenly do it again inside 90 seconds.

One of our biggest single problem also starts at centre back. Both win the ball repeatedly but lack the ability to get the ball down and play it to a midfielder. Until we have one central defender who can do that there is no midfielder or striker in the country who will up our scoring rate. It's not that our midfield are set up to be wholly defensive. It's more that if they're not given the ball to start attacks all they will ever be doing is defending as the ball just comes back at them again and again.
What a load of B------cks , The only bright spot of our season so far are our Centre backs end of , You really are a knowall aren't you ? talk shit sometimes

For me Pearson has been the ultimate 5 star performer for us this season.
I wasn't expecting Franco Baresi.
