My memory is of being 2-2 with 90 seconds left and the ball being lumped high out of play at the kop end, the ball hit the ridge tiles of the Turf and bounced back in to play.

Palace took a quick throw in and the ball ended in our net a couple of seconds latter.

Didn't go to work the next day, in case the usual suspects rubbed it in, I would have been sacked, I felt that gutted.

No, as I seem to remember, Mansfield had the chance of winning the league, but needed Palace to beat us to guarantee their promotion, though as they also beat us they won the league. Pretty sure it was a coach from Mansfield, so can only think of that season when they were in that kind of position. I remember, walking into A group of Palace fans outside of the kop after the game, but can't remember too much else about the game itself. Then again, it was a long time ago, so I could have got it mixed up. I can't really remember too much, that far back.

I was at that match Bryn. Wrexham first match in that division. A very hot day. The pre match hype was the clash between Graham Whittle and Peter Ward. Alan Mullery defended his ultra defensive stance by saying that this point will look much better at the end of the season.

A great adventure with some cracking results but failure in the final 2 games . The doom & gloom merchants stating "Wrexham just don't want it & can't afford to go up".

Made the following 12 months all the better after the experience of such a good team missing out.

No better feeling than knowing Wrexham AFC feared no-one and were so well respected.

Yeah the Big Boys didn't want us in the cups did they ?

It was a terrible night and totally unexpected. Harkouk was the new boy and had a stormer for Palace. Palace had loads of games in hand and won the lot to catch us up beating us twice in the last few weeks of the season

I used to buy the Rothmans football book every year which documented the entire season for all 4 leagues and always had a small number illustrations in the middle defining the most significant moments and I recall the goal Jeff Bourne scored at the Racecourse was included as the key moment of the season in division 3.

Still got that somewhere. They were great books! The following seasons edition was much better
