Three charged with invading the pitch at Tranmere

THREE Wrexham AFC fans have been charged with invading the pitch during the club’s 1-0 win against Tranmere Rovers last weekend.

The men from Wrexham have all been charged with pitch encroachment.

Three other men were issued with fixed penalty notices after the match at Prenton Park last Saturday, and a further three were ejected from the ground for foul and abusive language.

Merseyside Police Superintendent Ian Hassall said: “The majority of Tranmere and Wrexham fans went to the game to enjoy a football match between two passionate clubs.

“Sadly a relatively small minority attempt to spoil the game for others, but the police will not tolerate this kind of behaviour. We will continue to work with Tranmere and visiting clubs to crack down any disorder

Having read some accounts and seen some photographs on here and Facebook, I believe they have a case for removing themselves from a dangerous situation.

You could be right, One of the guy's is 46, can't see him be a pitch invader, wonder if they mentioned the dangerous situation?

Wonder if any of the Tranny fans who rushed to the front & were quite forcefully abusing our celebrating players when Wedge scored were "ejected from the ground for foul and abusive language"

Holroyd scored the goal - I know as I have watched it numerous times - can't get enough of the goal and the crowd celebrations.

But it's quite simple - stay off the pitch, don't throw anything on it and behave or face the consequences.

Agree about the Tranny fans - running down steps to verbally abuse players in the Paddock and throwing things from the front of the Kop stand at our keeper - there should be enough CCTV & other recorded evidence to haul in a few others - it happens far to much and is swept under the carpet - probably the same individuals every home game until somebody takes them on and puts a stop to them.

There were several jumping up and down while on the pitch, as you can see from the goal video.

A few were forced onto the pitch due to the safety issues down the bottom however, so I sincerely hope none of the fans who have been charged were caught up in that.

Have Tranmere been charged with multiple safety violations yet?

Agree but it remains a fact that,flare apart, their actions were no less reprehensible.

Apologies, of course,as the Wedge had indeed been sent for his "early bath" at that point....must be the shock of us scoring !!

True, but so far as I'm aware they weren't already on a suspended sentence in terms of the flares etc. which is bound to mean we now get fined.
