The standing ovation was well deserved.
There is now a vacancy for second scapegoat after The Laird of Warrington.

Not his biggest fan but he deserved his standing ovation today.

Rutherford has been great this season, how many times did Mackreth take players on today? He had the chance on the right on a number of occasions but decided to cross it from deep on every occasion. How many times does Kelly actually take players on like a typical winger does? What Rutherford does is always cover for the defence, work incredibly hard and when he gets the ball he drives us up field. Yes he's not taking on defenders at will, but he never hides, always wants the ball and when he gets hold of it when we've got 10 men behind the ball he drives us forward. He very rarely loses the ball and literally pulls the team all the way up the pitch by carrying the ball. He's probably got the most assists so far this season too.

Rutherford is a big factor in our great defensive record, his effort is incredible and he gets unjust criticism every week. Back the lad, Keates clearly rates him and he's been putting in decent consistent performances this season.

Rutherford should have got MOM today. I realise he's the official scapegoat for some people on here but they're probably idiots. Well not probably...more like definitely.

Roberts 8 - good game, since his return he has been solid.

Manny 9 - my MOM in defence - solid and wins everything in the air - if anyone has to make a last ditch tackle it’s always him.

Pearson 8 - very solid, an organiser and communicator.
Yellow card was interesting - the ref and linesman both missed the player he was chasing the ball with pulling him back by the shorts which was the cause of them both going to ground.

Jennings 6 - some very poor mistakes today and didn’t have the best of games defensively.

Rutherford 8 - faultless for energy and drive - made some good runs and also gets back well to assist the defence.

Carrington 7 - improved as the game progressed

Wright 7 - steady and made some decent tackles

Kelly 9 - my MOM in midfield, took his goal well and was all over the pitch making good runs

Reid 5 - very poor and did not provide much - needs to chase down defenders more and not watch the game pass him by - got to challenge for the ball in the air too

Holroyd 8 - this lad has a football brain - if we are going to create and score goals he is key.

Subs

Hurst 6 - replaced Wright in a midfield role - has some height and physicality about him - poor booking to concede, some strong interventions.

Massanka 6 - the only player to have 2 if not 3 goal scoring opportunities - his first touch and control is very poor but he should have scored at least one, especially when he was fed by Kelly and only had the keeper to beat but didn’t even work the keeper shooting wide when it looked easier to score - BUT he had chances and got in good positions which others didn’t.

Mackreth 6 - a very late appearance too late in the game to have an influence.
