I'm sure we beat them 1 nil, with Jon Cross scoring, but quite a while ago!

Think that was on a Friday night when we were chasing promotion - also in contention were York City. Remember getting back to the coach chuffed as hell with the win, then somebody announced York had won away 1 - 4 and a mini panic set in. Anyway we eventually went up at Northampton Town.

Also recall a 4 - 3 defeat on another Friday night.

The Shay has improved massively in recent years - away fans used to be accommodated on what was little more than a grass bank as I recall (where the Halifax fans behind their goal now stand).

I can remember in the 70's at Halifax, when we scored and the celebrations caused a dust storm, which meant that most of us had to exit the ground to breath. As you say, it used to be just a bank, which dried out to leave a dried surface of just dust.

I don't recall we've ever beaten them in recent times down at the Shay in the league.
There was the Fa trophy win a couple of years ago, then we had a win in the fa cup when Wes Baynes scored, but Halifax have always been a bit of a bogey side for us in the league.
Hopefully our luck in the league at the Shay will change on Tuesday.
I think you're one of our most encountered opponents in our history- this is the Arsenal v Liverpool of the lower leagues: Bet on Halifax vs Wrexham | Soccer Base

If you're coming by road, set off early- road works on the A629 into Halifax at Salterhebble (about 1 and a half miles from the ground), which is the road you'll come in on if you exit the M62 at J24. Club is currently advising fans to avoid that way into town. You should be ok if you allow plenty of time though (i'd suggest about an hour to be completely safe).

I was referring more to the new phoenix club in recent times, rather than the old club.
But yes, I agree historically the old club and Wrexham have overlapped divisions so played each other a fair bit.

I'm leaving from Runcorn Presumably down the M56 and then onto the M62. How long should I allow to get there ? I was hoping at leaving around 5.45pm. If anyone could help.

Thanks

You might potentially be cutting it quite fine. From Runcorn, at that time of the day perhaps up to 2hrs depending on traffic which doesn't leave you much time to park up and get to the game.

I live in Halifax and my folks live in Ellesmere Port and we regularly do the journey back and forth. On a good day it can take 1hr 30, but on a bad day you can double that.
