Is this specifically a NORTH Wales museum or the whole of Wales?

We may have been the birthplace of Welsh football but I fail to see the point of a museum in Wrexham.
Don't think we can justify the lack of footfall. Too expensive an operation if you don't get any visitors.

I said that about 2 months ago and got pelters on here.

Someone (probably Corner Flag) accused me of being a Chester fan and I’d prefer the museum to be in Chester. Ironically, it would get greater footfall if it was in Chester!

Frankly, if it helps us get a new stand, I’m all for it and I promise I’ll attend at least twice a year for the first 3 years then annually thereafter.

Museums are generally located at sites of significance to their exhibits so in this case, Wrexham is the perfect fit. People make special trips to go to museums so footfall shouldn't be the primary consideration when looking at location. Look at Telford, awful place with no footfall but the museums there are packed.

They are also usually funded by Government grants rather than paying customers so I would imagine the cost of locating in Wrexham rather than Cardiff would work in our favour too.

Not generally how museums are funded

It’s interesting that the football museum in Preston was relocated to Manchester.

It's also quite interesting that it was a success in Preston in the first place when it's not exactly Paris.

It is, but the background to that move is totally different to the proposals being made today.

Preston council wanted to keep the museum and provide increased funding but the museum trustees approached Manchester council who provided £8m to allow the move to take place and further funding of £2m a year. This is on top of the fact that they had a £30m building to move into.

As far as the trustees were concerned, this was a no brainer. Not that I'm insinuating trustees of charities ever use funding for their own benefit.
