Default Goalkeepers

With coddington not being in hasselbaink's plans at Northampton and Dibble proving himself to be more than competent, is there any chance we could look at getting coddington permanently and cancelling Dunn's deal in January. It has been rumoured that Dunn is only part-time and therefore his contract shouldn't be too problematic, we also have Oakes in doing the coaching duties so he may be surplus to requirements.
I realise it all depends on the coddington situation but think it would be beneficial for us in the long term

I agree. Dunn does seem to be extremely injury prone. It's remarkable how Coddington has just slotted in as though he has played there for years. Give him an 18 month deal and add to the stability at the back.

Coddington is a very good goalie at this level - Dibble also didn't let us down in any way - we don't need three goalies unless one could also play centre forward.

I was so impressed with Dibble that I could see him being our number one for years to come - however it has gone very quiet on his situation - he was suffering from a back injury and it was reported he had undergone a minor operation but didn't specify if it was his back or something else not connected.

Coddington looks solid and has performed admirably - the thing is we can only carry so many keepers and would he be keen to be warming the bench every game on the basis that Dibble will be given the number 1 jersey by DK.

And what happens to Dunn ? what is his contract situation ? I thought he was fit again and possibly in contention but seems to have been out an awful long time since he sustained 'a slight groin strain' in a pre match warm up.

I'm not sure what he does behind the scenes - we have Oaks back as a keeper coach and now don't have a reserve team competing in a league so again I ask the question how many coaching roles do we need for a specialist position with so few keepers at out disposal that as soon as we sustain an injury or two we have to bring in a loanee.

Should also give a mention for Callum Preston - came in short notice and saved us a point at home to Hartlepool - couldn't do any more.

If planning for the future Dibble & Coddington would be my perfect choice as age is on their side and they could be with us for years to come but it doesn't really work like that. We have had a massive turnaround in players including keepers - Taylor now at Fylde and Jalal at Macclesfield.

Back injuries can be very difficult and sometimes reoccur - just hope Dibble recovers any time soon and is not plagued by the same injury for years to come.

Dibble injury is an ingrowing back hair which got infected so best to let it heal but nothing muscular so once done it shouldn't lead to any recurring issues.

That's good news - nothing 'structural' damaged - that's what matters.
