Pearson - 8. Dealt with the great lump Denton like he was a schoolboy.

Rutherford - 6. Huff and puff, not much spark.

Kelly - 7. Had a lot of time on the ball and looked positive but not much support.

Wedgebury - 5.5. Well off the pace after another early booking.

Carrington - 7. Decent game to be fair. Played some good cross field balls to the wide men.

Holroyd - 8. MOM. Ran himself into the ground. Came deep, ran the channels, set up three great chances.

Reid - 4. Had our three best chances, fluffed them all. Didn't look arsed.

Massanka - 3. Dross

Boden - 4.5. slowed the game down after replacing Holroyd. Didn't offer any options apart from the long ball.

Mackreth - 2. A point for every time he touched the ball.

All in all a decent performance but the subs were poor and we lost all momentum when they came on.
Would agree with all that except Kelly who I would score 8 at least. we left when Boden came on as you knew that we were never going to score then and there was more chance Halifax would.
Terrible trip back with so many road closures it was a bad joke including M62,M60 and Chester by-pass !!

Team is looking better week on week.
Carrington had a decent game and played further forward with Wedgebury covering the back. We are beginning to look like a football side rather than a bunch of hoof merchants.
Yes, we need to improve up front but it may only take a goal to kick start the forward line.
QR - yes I agree about the chances but week on week we seem to be missing them and given the Reid situation in Nov and Holroyd, Massanka and Boden are not natural goal scorers we need a change - 1 goal isn't going to kick start a change. Massanka scored 2 in 1 game yet no improvement there.

This is constructive criticism and we don't want to fall of the pace.

Are we the only team that's progressed? Although I'm laughing at the massively

Coddington - 7 - Made 1 excellent save from a header, made 1 mistake that thankfully we got a free kick for. Keepers at this level will most likely make mistakes and that's the first he's made for me, he looks the part.

Roberts - 6 - Beaten easily a couple of times and had to be rescued. Nothing going forward. Solid for the most part.

Pearson - 7 - A couple of early brainfarts but eased himself into the game and nothing got past him.

Smith - 8 - Hero. Every defensive error we made, he cleared up. Gets my Manny of the match.

Jennings - 6 - See Roberts.

Rutherford - 6 - Not as effective today, but perhaps that was down to the lack of decent runs being made by the strikers. Most of his successful passes were short to Holroyd.

Wedgbury - 4 - Possibly the worst game he's played. A very silly yellow early on in the game for a reckless challenge meant he could hardly get stuck in as he struggles to make a successful challenge. Most of his passes were wayward and he looked knackered by the end of it.

Carrington - 7 - Decent but not spectacular. Made some tidy passes early on and did most of the defensive work in midfield as Wedgbury was a passenger. Looks set to retain his place when Wright returns with performances like that.

Kelly - 8 - If only we had a striker. Kelly looked very assured on the ball and most of the times he got it he looked to push the play forward. Someone had to. Him an Holroyd set up most of the chances we had on goal and when it came to Kelly it involved taking on a player or 2 at times. Would've been my MOTM had he not failed to see Boden in acres of space in the box late on when he seemed to get the ball tangled.

Holroyd - 8 - We have a very good player on our hands here. He won't score many but we've looked far more dangerous in front of goal since he's come back, even if we don't have the players to put the ball in the net. Alongside a decent striker he'd get a load of assists in this team.

Reid - 2 - Missed 2 sitters and a number of half chances. I've noticed that he isn't getting the same 'at least he gets into these positions' reprieve that Massanka received last week, why? For me it isn't about getting into the positions anyway, getting into good positions isn't what scores you goals. When you're struggling to put the ball in the net like Reid did last night, you struggle to believe there's much hope for them in the game as a striker. Not only did Reid miss these chances, he played against the gameplan. It was obvious that the point of Reid playing was that we would hoof the ball over their defence for him to run onto. That requires him to hug the offside line. Instead, Reid spent the whole game a good 5 yards or so off the offside line, then moaning at Roberts or Jennings that the ball wasn't good enough. Poor attitude and he looked knackered 10 minutes into the 2nd half. What's happened to him?

Subs:

Massanka - 6 - A few nice touches in all fairness, especially where he backed into the defender a good 5 yards or so then turned him, but his decent running would appear to be a myth from last night's showing and the opposition's backpasses to their keeper seem more threatening to their goal than he does.

Mackreth - 3 - Barely noticed him. Aside from one nearly good cross to Kelly. Did he make a successful pass?

Boden - N/A - Barely touched the ball, perhaps deserved to receive the ball late on when Kelly seemingly decided to go for glory.
