Default We have title winning form

Based on our last 9 games we have W4 D5 L0

This is 1.88 points per game which translates to 87 points seasons end

Macclesfield are currently top at 1.85 points per game which translates to 85 points

My conclusion is that our current form is Title winning form and scoring lots of goals may not always be the answer to being Champions.

Problem for Wrexham is that in our first 5 games we only obtained 6 points when scoring more freely at 4 goals in 5 games. Statistically this was 3% better than our 7 goals in last 9 games.

[Removed User] has a point re defence can win Titles. Statistically we are on track to be at least top 3 if last 9 games are the basis for rest of season, and statistically you can argue we will come 1st.

Of course a striker who can score will improve our chances assuming our defence remains solid.

You could argue also that a team will win all of its remaining games, but its not statistically likely.

Sorry about the Nerdy post, but it's an interesting perspective.

This team is a big improvement over last year. Keates has brought back respect and stability, but boy it's hard to watch. I don't get inspired watching them. If you are the statistics king, I am not going to argue with you! Parking the bus in EVERY game makes me feel that I need another hobby.

Some of you might not agree, but I believe we are the only team in the league who have shown any sort of consistency. Teams are struggling to work us out, they can't score against us. We have a great platform to build on and being only 3 points off the top I am sure we are in for a promotion challenging season.

We are having a good season, no doubt, but ultimately the 'park the bus' tactic wont yield enough wins to get us up there.

What it does do is keep us in touch so when we sign that striking ace, or Boden clicks, or whatever, we can challenge for top spot.

I've quite enjoyed watching us over the last few games. It's defensive and robust but I haven't found it hard to watch at all. A huge improvement over the start of the season

Whilst I do believe we need to score more , I also do understand that it's possible to win things on the back of a solid defence hence my Milan posts. My worry is that over 46 games our defence will eventually make some mistakes which cost us the 1-0 wins.

Start of the season most of us would have settled for top 10 to 7. The aspiration to the title comes from a number of places but the conclusion that because we’re not scoring great amounts of goals we’re not going to do anything is a new one borne of nothing bar pessimism and a wilful ignorance of that fundamental point made in the last post. Most teams haven’t figured out how to score against us. Same with the mad assertion that crowds will drop because it’s not always great to watch. They may not rise to heady heights but our consistency isn’t seeing a masube drop either and if we keep this up then come February they wil be further on the up.

Always good to remember RP is not a representative cross section. If it were then we’d be back to playing to crowds of 1,800 by now.
Expectation is a key point. Most fans would have been happy at the start of the season with where we are now, but we all know we should be even higher.

I don't think we are going to be troubling these higher positions though with the 3rd worst scoring record in the division.

76% of stats are incorrect!

Just remind that despite this title winning form, what position are we?

Default Re: We have title winning form

This is the tightest that this league has ever been.
14 games in.. that's almost a third of the season gone we have the following situation.
Only 10 points separate top and 19th.. that only leave 5 teams (including jester) who currently look to be struggling.
Any team in the top 15 is only 3 points, 1 win, away from a top 7 play-off place. Even the tramps are back in this frame!
Once again a Wrexham win on Saturday could put us top, or equal on points with top (how many more chances will we get?)
A loss on Saturday and we are back in the pack of mid table hopefuls.
5 draws in 6 games is not promotion form. Had we won just 2 of those we would be a point clear at the top.
OK, a few ifs and buts however we need to start winning games. On Saturday we can look at the league table knowing exactly what a win would do for our position. A win will be massive.
