Another day, another Keates bashing thread - the man who has us sitting 6th in the table and unbeaten since the first week of August.

Get real. After the state Mills left us in, this is going to take time. Assembling a tight defence is the backbone to any team, he's done that. You have to trust him to get it right and give him the time it takes.

The latest is Keates say 'we're not a million miles away' and he is right.

Just want to be a bit closer though - LOL

Does making a critical point mean you want the manager sacked?
if you want the manager sacked are you only allowed to want this if you can name a successor?

Most people will agree that Keates is doing a bloody good job of turning things around from the mess that Mills left us in.

It's like when you buy a house, you move in and you may need to sort the roof out, you might want to get new windows and doors, then upgrade the kitchen and put in a more modern bathroom.
You can see it all needs doing but you either can't afford to, or don't have the time (or both) to do it all straight away.

You have to prioritise and he has done that. He has created one of the best, if not the best defences in this league, who are all on 2 year deals which gives him the foundations from which to move forward.
He isn't stupid and he knows where the weaknesses are and no doubt that he is trying his damnedest to rectify them.

Sadly at the moment we are only creating a handful of goal scoring opportunities in each match though in the last two games we have created enough chances to win both matches so the midfield creativity is improving.

It's just unfortunate that we have young strikers who may need 6 chances in order to get a shot on target never mind score. This is why Deano has to bring in that goal scorer who is capable of living off scraps and has the composure to hit the target 7 times out of 10.

I can't tell you who that goal scorer is but Dean will have a list of players available and has probably received many offers to take lads on and it's a credit to him that in this period he has not rushed in and brought the first player available just because we desperately need someone.

It's funny how things change as before the season started, I would have been happy with a top 7 finish, which I think we will achieve but having seen how the first 14 games have gone it is so frustrating to see how achievable top spot could be if we just had a strike force capable of banging the goals in.

A good post football fans aren't known for patience, though we all get frustrated I'm one who wasn't impressed when Keates was given the job especially when it was increased to 3 yrs after a few months, but now I wouldn't change him for Mourinho even though I to may criticise him at times I simply don't see the point in changing managers all the time, Keates is on the right track building from the back he just hasn't quite got that backbone finished through the middle as in that experienced centre forward, maybe tactically naive at times but with Darlington helping him it will come good.

We all need to be patient it's only early October.

Spot on and good analogy.

Some on here are like the nagging wife that want everything done at once!
