Re: RIP Jacko

I was reminded earlier of this 'Jacko comedy gold moment'.

16 February 2002 and we are in Division 2 on the coach for an away fixture at Queens Park Rangers.

Jacko produces a big tin of Frankfurter sausages in brine and opens it, consuming the sausages leaving the tin meat free but still half full of brine before handing it to an unwitting young lad who was left holding the tin for many miles until the next motorway bog stop.

Wonderfully written and nearly brought a tear to my eye.

My earliest (and some of my fondest) memories of following Wrexham at home on the back of the Kop or at away games, he was a big part of them. He made those whole experiences that more wonderful, meaningful and interesting.

So many countless memories, but his cllimbing on a pillar at the Gay Meadow (Lee Jones' injury time winner) seemed to encapsulate the joy we felt and how we were all as one.

What an amazing character, truly one of a kind.

Even though you didn't know me Jacko, thank you for making my time following WFC even more special.

RIP.

Re: RIP Jacko

My forever memory of Jacko is the promotion night at Northampton.

Must have been over 3,000 Wrexham there on a Tuesday night and where was Jacko ?.....standing on a crush barrier in the middle of the crowd directing the singing as if he was the Pope himself.

He was having the time of his life watching his beloved Wrexham achieve promotion, as we all were, but it was that bit more special with him leading us.
