Forest Green Rovers have released Liam Noble by 'mutual consent' despite him signing a 4 year contract in July.

26 year old midfielder who skippered FGR to the Play Off Final victory v Tranmere in May.

Supposedly had a major fall out with manager Mark Cooper - also mentioned is his desire to be 'closer ' to his north east family.

Notts County have previously made a bid and are no doubt still interested.

With Wedgbury & Kelly already here could Noble be the missing link in our midfield ? No fee involved and there wont be a better chance to at least ask the question - we are not the north east but he would be a lot closer to his roots than where he has been.

If we have the funds surely this is the calibre of player we push the boat out to bring in together with a quality striker.

Thoughts ?

Wouldn't be surprised to see him back at Carlisle. A decent player. Be a bit miffed if he's Gateshead bound.

We wouldn't be able to sign him until January as he was released after the football league transfer window shut.
