Re: Wedgebury and Carrington
Wedgebury and carrington doesn’t work as a midfield pair. I don’t think the two players are particularly alike, but both offer no goal threat from midfield. Both have deficiencies in their games, but we are down in the fifth tier of football. My biggest criticism is how deep the midfield is - surely down to the manager.
Wedgebury offers energy and clearly loves a battle in midfield. His passing is often poor and a lack of pace results in lunging tackles. He reminds me of a poor version of jay Harris. I think someone with his energy needs to play higher up, forcing the opposition into mistakes, higher up the field. I don’t think he plays the holding role brilliantly, but would prefer he utilized his strengths further forward. Carrington has come in for a lot of criticism this season. I think he plays the holding role in midfield better than wedgebury. He sticks to his position, has a good footballing brain and can pass the ball resonably well. He doesn’t have the energy of wedgebury, but do we want our defensive midfielder bombing 40 yards to win a throw-in leaving a big gap in-behind. I don’t think Kelly will be the answer in midfield, unless we play with three in the middle. I’m surprised we haven’t gone for this, given the players we have in the squad. Slightly off topic, but I’d also like to see holroyd played out wide (in place of Rutherford) and massanka and Reid played up top. Massanka does miss chances, but without him or Reid in the team, we don’t seem to create any chances. Hopefully akil Wright can replace either wedgebury or carrington, in the centre. |

Re: Wedgebury and Carrington
Hey ScreweA dont start putting facts in the way as I am sure the usual suspects will highlight all the reasons for DK selection such as keeping the game tight first half and not conceding... oh wait!
It really is a huge selection and tactical error by DK to continue with this. It defies belief that he is so blinded to the situation. |
