Default Re: Referee - Leyton Orient (H)

Wasn't impressed with the ref. Rooney was diving and he was conned every time.

However, he had no impact on the result

My son has refereed games and said it was a correct decision. Still don't understand it.

Sure the official rule is worded better than that!!
Ahh fair enough. I had no idea the change had happened. Suppose he got a few things wrong aside from this however.

The law tells you to give the free-kick in two different places.

“So, in future, the free-kick will always be given where he commits the offside offence, even if he is in his own half, because you cannot be in an offside position in your own half, but you can go back into your own half to commit an offside offence.”

Still don't understand this part " So in future the free-kick will always be given where he commits the offside offence even if he is in his own half" surely if someone is coming back into his own half from an offside position and fouls someone it is just a free kick or am I missing something?

Sounds like Stanley Unwin wrote that rule

From FA laws of the game

If an offside offence occurs, the referee awards an indirect free kick where the offence occurred, including if it is in the player’s own half of the field of play.

Massanka played the ball in his own half. Referee was correct

So Massanka played the ball in his own half coming back from an offside position?
