Rob Evans, haha. Only half decent thing he did here was a 2 yard tap in against Chester. Found his level.

Apparently he would now be the new Xavi if it wasn’t for posters on Red Passion analysing his game. Same with Marx - could have been the next Franco Baresi.

I am just really sorry that I once said on here that Leon Clowes had a poor turn of pace - who knows what could have happened....

On Rob Evans, I noticed a dramatic tail off in his game once those like you started criticising him, I hope you don't have the sane effect on Oli
Agreed, it's a good job Manny Smith and Shaun Pearson hadn't been here at 18 years of age as no doubt the usual suspects would be sticking the knife in them for not yet being the finished article.

The problem with Marx is that he has no obvious strong attributes to work with. Not overly tall, not overly quick, not overly strong, poor distribution etc. I'm not expecting the next Rio Ferdinand here but he seems short in pretty much every aspect, compare to say Akil Wright who has power, strong tackler, covers ground etc so you have a solid starting point to develop a league standard player (he obviously has flaws in his game hence why he is with us). Dean and the staff obviously see something in him though so I wouldn't agree that going out on loan would be the end of any player under Keates, remember he was very clinical in his youth team/1st year pro retained list so would suggest any kept on would be seen as worthwhile investments for the medium term.

He isn't criticised for not being at Pearson's level. He is criticised for making basic mistakes. There have been a lot of defenders recently that have all looked promising and never delivered. I think Marx is one of them. And saying so on a fans message board where discussion of players is not only fair but actually welcomed, is not something you should lambast people for doing.

Oh and with your Rob Evans points, that just makes a lot of what you say lose credibility. The mantra that fans criticising players makes them bad is laughable. He was never good enough, he didn't progress much if at all as he got older.

If players want to read criticism from fans on a message board, that's their problem. They should be smart enough to stay away. If they don't like what they read, that's their own problem.

Though your post is a first for me, I have never been single handedly blamed for a player's downfall.

I should apologise also. I've destroyed the career of our best potential midfielder.

I don’t really understand why people take such pleasure in our youngsters failing. We’re like the harshest fathers in the world.

I am glad you have stood up and confessed.
All you need to do now to rectify this is post how good Olly is and how far he will go - job sorted.

I dont think anyone takes pleasure in seeing any of our youngsters fail or fall below the standards we need. Everyone would love a full team rising from the ranks.

The reality is that not many have actually improved even when they have gone up a level or 2, most have then come back down.
Lets hope Keates can change this starting with Leo who again is a player with potential but not improving.

I will repeat (as you ignored) you can't say it is fair to blame a kid trying to step in and do a mans job (he is 2 years younger than the average age centre backs break through) after not playing football for the last few months and expect no mistakes, I bet if Pearson stepped in cold having not played games for a few months then he would make mistakes too.

The Rob Evans points I made were bang on the money. I don't think he was ever a world beater but there was a very serious deterioration in his confidence and therefore his product on the pitch when the fans got on his back and made him target number 1. I am not sure why you struggle to understand that a young man would lose confidence with thousands of people on his back?

If you read my post again you weren't single handedly blamed I used you as an example
