Re: Bubble popped for good?
Well according to the Chron the Police were pleased the way it went and the majority were well behaved , some arrest's were made . Difficult to want bubble after saying that , they could have put a different spin if they wanted .

'Riots' reported prior to Wrexham AFC Chester FC derby match - Daily Post
If this witnesses account is correct then the plod could use it as grounds to reintroduce the bubble. 70 fighting slap bang in the middle of the town scaring shoppers is exactly why the bubble was brought in in the first place. I imagine a few could be on the receiving end of dawn raids. CCTV will have that area very well covered. |

Re: Bubble popped for good?
Official coaches final stop was scheduled for 6.45 pm at Amantola, Deeside but they were slightly late and there was confusion on which coach to get on as they were all either full or partially full - some were numbered - the Deeside coach had already picked up at Mold and Buckley and was lettered 'W' - no forewarning.
Coaches x 8 set off in convoy under police motorcycle escort about 7.10 pm - we were then held in Sovereign Way until Bumpers Lane was cleared of 'congestion'. By this time information came through that the kick off had been put back 15 minutes to 8.00 pm. The 'congestion' was rumoured to be fighting on Bumpers Lane - we didn't see any. Coaches de - bussed about 7.40 pm - 400 supporters joined the inadequate turnstile ques. Even with the kick off being delayed many of us missed the first 5 or 10 minutes. Calls were made to open the exit gates to allow entry to all those in the West Stand ques who had tickets. A senior police officer conveyed a message to those waiting that they had asked several times but the club wouldn't do it. Possibly with the lessons of Hillsborough buzzing around the exit gates remained closed - interestingly last season we endured the opposite option - and they were opened. Problem is the turnstiles count supporters in and inform the safety staff of available remaining capacity - only possible way around this is if supporters are admitted through an exit gate and physically and accurately counted in - and the control room updated very frequently - some would argue that if supporters had tickets in their hand then there shouldn't be an issue. Sorry to say that lessons from season to season don't get addressed. Turnstiles will surely cope for the visit of Dover but there are not enough for our visits given the late time many of us arrived - when I saw the 6.45 pm coach pick up time on the transport ticket I thought it was too late - problem is compounded with an evening match in that there is a balance between pick up time and when people finish work. All in all the supporters who probably suffered most and actually missed game time were the ones that stuck with the official method of club coach transport. As a priority above all else we have to get this fixture back to a Saturday or even better a stand alone Sunday early kick off and give extra time to get supporters into the ground from the point they are picked up using official transport PLUS the transport tickets need to be actually matched to a coach - not left as a free for all with drivers not knowing which coach you should be on. Post match and I know we won but keeping the away fans back for 15 minutes was very sensible. |

Re: Bubble popped for good?
A frustrating derby night for one of our DSA members last night. He made the drive over to Chester having been lucky enough to get a ticket for one of their wheelchair user spaces. However, upon arrival he could find nowhere to park anywhere near the ground.
Faced with the decision of a long distance to and from the ground on a cold night, he had sadly to give it up and return back to Wrexham, where he watched the game in the Cent. |
