Several weeks ago I attended a World Cup Qualifier Aust v Syria
42000 crowd with 7000 Syrians
No trouble few police and easy entry and travel to and from ground
Will attend Aust v Honduras on Wednesday for final qualification game with 80000 expected
It will be all ticket with no problems
I just can’t believe a game of 4000 can attract so many problems ina behavioural and organisational viewpoint
It really is third world stuff and quite sad to read all these posts

A very simplistic view on things there Ozzy Red, and you're comparing chalk and cheese to be honest.
It shouldn't really be as it is, but for some it's incredibly tribal and deeply entrenched.

Never believe all you read
Aussie press hate soccer as it is threatening the dominance of zrugby league and AFL
They always have a go at soccer fans
Never ever seen trouble at a soccer game here

Soccer is what's played in the USA. Don't the rest of the world call it football? I do. Please let's not spread the influence of the word "soccer". It's not even in my world!

Held back? From my experience, when the final whistle blew I hung around for a couple of minutes to clap the players then left, walked straight through the police line as they were only looking g to escort people walking to the train station, jumped in the car and went, didn’t realise there was any sort of problem.

Mrs Red works near Eastgate street, said a bit of shouting, police there in seconds. Handbags at best but possibly confusing and concerning to anyone out doing their shopping with no clue what was going on.
I firmly believe that if the police wanted to try and reinstate the bubble then they would be screaming from the roof tops about and ‘riots’ that the press called it, they however are quite quiet on the subject and said it passed off well.

Just more trash journalism trying flog papers.

For me the "in stadium" experience was very good, despite lack of sufficient turnstiles, it was ok. Fierce and passionate like a derby match should be. The problem has always been outside the stadium. Whilst a tiny proportion of wxm/Chester fan base insist on drinking more than they need and bating each other, there will always be the scenes that some of us saw on Wednesday evening. It was depressing and sad.
The Police will argue that their remit is law and order -that is the recurring issue. Unless the corresponding fixture avoids any more of this "Wild West" behaviour, I cannot see the authorities lifting the bubble for future years. It's very sad that a small percentage of idiots have spoilt it for the rest of us. This was my first Chester away game for 6 years (must have been to more than 10 in total) and apart from the result, it was not enjoyable. I have got better things to do in life, than run the gauntlet with these fools. I can only see an early morning kick off, in daylight, in the future.
