Yes, agree there has to be a good amount still in the budget.
Plus, lets not forget we have the Neil Taylor transfer money, available.
Some £400K +/-

lets see some of it spent

Nice use of colour but we're getting the money in installments over a few years

Don't understand the clamour to spend what little money we may have in the bank.
It's obvious to most that this team is very much a work in progress and may take at least two more transfer windows to get near to completion.
It doesn't make sense to spunk all the money on one effort that might not succeed and set us back two years.
The management team are doing a decent job with reasonable resources, crowds and therefore revenue is up above the budgeted figure and money will be available in January to bolster the squad and improve areas we are lacking in.
We don't have the cash to splash out on transfer fees, so we have to be patient and wait for players to get near the end of their contracts, the better ones will generally be on 2 year deals.
Don't think we are good enough, especially in midfield, to sustain a top 3 slot and gambling hard earned cash on promotion through a play off spot is a big risk.

Its a tough one. If we are still up there in January it could be as big a risk not to go for it as we don't know what money teams will have next season. I understand your point but I think if we are up there we have to go for and take the bull by the horns.

Disagree, Don't spend what we haven't got but also don't keep money back from an agreed budget and fall a few points short of automatic to save a few quid.

Weakest league since we've been down here as we are 3rd with no strikers.

Anyone got any idea how much promotion is worth to us financially ?

Financial gains from promotion are spurious . In order to attract the quality of players capable of competing in League 2 (given that an awful lot of the current team are not) we would have to pay much higher salaries than we do now, thus possibly offsetting any financial gains. In order to compete at the top end of league 2 we would need an injection of finance from somewhere in order to fund that level of player, And the danger is without this, we would see attendances fall; they are only 4000+ in the conference because we always have a chance of an interesting season. Sorry to be so despondent but we all need to be realistic about this if the penny is to drop, literally as well as metaphorically.

Sadly I think you could be right. Listening to Michael Brown who was sacked by Port Vale earlier in the season he was saying their budget is £1.3M and that was nowhere near enough to compete in that league and was £1m down on when they last got promoted from that league. That said, if Accrington and Exeter can do well......

In sport it's all about seizing the moment otherwise what's the point? Looking at who could be in the conference next year and the state of it this year, I'd say we'd need to show some balls and go for it, what's the worse that can happen?
