Exactly. If CM are not going to support quickly then the 2 forwards have to work together better and bring LM & RM into play.

Although the main point of 442 is they move forwards and backwards together as units. This isnt happening.

I also heard that Boden isnt fit yet!!!! Hasnt he been here since July. Seems odd to me.

Movement requires players to find him when he makes the runs, with Darlington believing carrington is the player to unlock defences and pick a pass that shows that movement will not get him far. His touch when played into feet is generally in deep area outside the box with his back to goal, what options has he got other than to lay it off ( there's rarely a player bursting through from midfield) so he lays it back to our midfield who then give it away/turn down the opportunity to cross cos they know they can't or pass responsibility back to the centre backs or keeper that results In a hoof upfield or down the line. Strength clearly isn't an attribute he has and nobody has claimed this.

Then he would get criticised for not looking for the ball. The strikers have to come deep due tithe massive hole left by the midfielders playing too deep. The hole left around the half way line needs to be filled. What do you propose he does? Run the line and wait for wedgebury, Rutherford or wright to find him. Not much chance of that happening. Or wait for an over hit ball into channels? No strikers are going to create chances from no service unless we are relying on mistakes from long balls.

win headers. hold the ball up. beat a man. create space for a shot. win a throw in to move play up the pitch. close down defenders.
