I seem to remember the Sakho headbutt game against Hayes & Yeading dipped below 2,000? Certainly the games around that time were terrible.

This game was quoted by the asset strippers every time they sold a bit of the club to themselves at a favourable rate ("we can get by just on gates of 1800 against Forest Green!"). Not a great turnout but even then it was an outlier (and it was bitterly cold).

Les' post is very interesting. I went to Aldershot in August last year and a couple of Grimsby gloaters at a service station were giving it the big one at their presence in the land of milk and honey (aka League 2). Only a few idiots but I thought of them when Marcus Bignot was apologising to them after a 5-0 away defeat, and do so again now. You're never more than one bad run away from fans drifting away or griping, whatever league you're in. Something to consider when people do their "we've got to get out of this god forsaken league" speech.

The increase seems to be since the Trust took over, before that crowds were about 1000 down on now, this since we have been in this league. Then you have the added extras for those ST holders who are counted but may not be in the ground, we never get a figure for those. When did this kick in? So it is always difficult to compare crowds now and before.

It would interesting if someone had the figures over the past 10 years what difference it made.
