Default Attendance

Our attendance was fantastic tonight. Nearly 4000, with no away support, on a Tuesday night in the depths of November ... with Champions League on the telly!

Someone on the Live Match Thread (I didn't catch which planet he was from), suggested that this was poor for a club at the top of the table.

Let's put it into context. Shrewsbury are top of League One and look a good bet for Promotion to the Championship...

... but when you adjust the average attendances for away support, they are getting an average of 5,325 in blue and amber through their turnstyles, while we are getting 4,229 Wrexham fans. Only a thousand fewer.

Shrewsbury are flying high, two entire leagues above us, with highlights on terrestrial telly every week and the prospect of playing the likes of Villa, Forest, Leeds and Fulham next year, yet we are still in the same ball park attendance-wise, as we take on the might of Guiseley, Solihull and Bromley.

The potential at this club is frightening.

A few of us said exactly that when they announced tonight's attendance

You can take it both ways.

A decent turn out for a club at our level but we have the whole of North Wales behind us.
The potential this club has is enormous - remembering that for our first league match v Macclesfield we had 6,000 plus.

If we can stay right up the top end of the table the bandwagon will roll on and gather momentum attracting more and more fans both at home but away aswell - we could be impossible to stop with such backing - success breeds success.

AF yes it's a potential that needs to be tapped into right now. 1 decent signing and increased crowds would pay for it easily.
