Default Aldershot away ratings

Just back home, not a lot to be positive about based on that other than keeping the score down but hopefully just a one off. Aldershot were a very strong passing team with dangerous strikers who could finish, they will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.

In terms of ratings and trying not to be too harsh:

Dunn 6 - no chance with the goals, otherwise ok
Roberts 6 - most of the attacks from them were down our left, he did ok
Smith/Pearson 6 - not as imperious as normal, their pace and movement caused them problems. Would need to see the goals back to see if anyone individually at fault
Carrington 4 - not a Carra bash as he is playing out of position but they targeted him as a weak link and ruthlessly exposed him
Rutherford 5 - largely anonymous
Wright 4 - unusually poor game, gave away possession cheaply and lost the physical battle
Wedgbury 5 - see Wright but marginally better
Kelly 5 -quiet game and lost physical side
Reid 2 - shocking miss one on one with keeper, complete fairy, good riddance
Holroyd 5 - huffed and puffed but never looked like scoring or creating

Subs - game was realistically over when Massanka and Mackreth came on, they added little - 5

Hmm Ben. Sorry state of affairs really and sounds like we were ruthlessly exposed.
Its a worry DK played Reid again after his last 2 performances. Doesnt seem interested.

This is pretty much how it sounded on the radio. Wright and Wedgbury didn't seem to cope with the Shots' pressing game.

It happens to all sides during the course of a season, pagl. Hopefully we'll bounce back next week and shoot back to the top of the table.

IMO it shows we are an almost side with a few changes needed.

Possibly a contractual obligation. Anyway, he's gone now.

Refer you to the thread I posted on pace at the back and through the side which is what the Aldershot commentators said we couldn't handle their pace in defence and that our side seems to lack any on that display, it's been noticeable all season that's why we hoof it on the counter attack

Default Re: Aldershot away ratings

We were outplayed and outclassed today . Aldershot wanted to win it more than us . They were hungrier and looked fitter . They won most of the 50/50 balls and were first to the majority of second balls .

Carragher was no worse or better than any of the other players .In actual fact he constantly showed for the ball when a couple of others went missing and weren't up for the fight .

The Scott Boden situation is bizarre . Reid's loan supposedly finishes today and he looks short of confidence . This showed again today when he was one on one with their keeper and completely panicked . It was a shocking miss .

I thought Boden would start . At half time I am thinking that he has got to come on as we are 2 down and urgently need goals ! He eventually came on in injury time !

Boden was supposedly our number one signing and I would guess he is out top earner . He must be completely demotivated following today's game . If he didn't get a chance today he never will and it's pointless keeping him if DK is not going to use him .
