An important point about Aldershot is that they kept about two thirds of last year's squad. Re some of the earlier posts on this thread re the Shots performance being a bit in and out here are some comments from a mate who is a season ticket holder -

"Our issue is that when we have a virtually fully fit squad, then we can perform playing an attractive brand of football. Too often this season we have used players out of position or fringe members of the squad who are just not good enough. A keeper, full back and a striker have all been sent out on loan recently, with the striker being sent back two weeks early, as he could not perform at Conference South level."

Suggests that like us they will also have their wobbles in the second half of the season. Let's hope we can do enough to be at least in the play offs and hopefully one better.

Looking at last season, I think 6 of the top 7 teams at this point were still in the top 7 come the end of season, albeit juggled about!

But it's lot tighter this season and I can see a few teams coming into it. Like WrexSi, I reckon Tranmere will be in amongst it soon enough, but I think Hartlepool and Flyde will be up there as well.

It all makes for an interesting second half to the season, but one game at a time, eh!

This is it mate....Hartlepool is a good call, they’re improving all the time. Means one of the 7 I named could miss out on the top seven! I could have it all wrong of course, it’s just my current guess lol.

Fylde, they have the financial clout to make changes and make a surge, so they can’t be discounted either, you’re right.
