Re: Ferdinand Takyi
But is he going to be good enough at this level ?
I am not getting any vibes from his previous history - where has he suddenly appeared from and why ? Bognor Regis is no hotbed for the beautiful game. Appearance record, previous clubs, goals scored - nothing seems to be jumping out and if he's ring rusty he's not going to be up to speed with his match fitness. However, he's landed here somehow - through contacts in the game / our scouting network or has an agent thrown him at us ? On the plus side he's 6'5 tall and a solid looking lad and if he has the attributes then he's someone we are crying out for - but he has to show he is capable. |

Re: Ferdinand Takyi
Being devil's advocate you could have said that about players who ended up being great for us. Lee Trundle looked like a non league journeyman. Karl Connolly was from the local league's in Liverpool wasnt he? Andy Morrell from.some team miles down the pyramid, Juan Ugarte signed from Dorchester Town. I doubt the Trinidadian league is any good either.
Nothing may come of this lad but he's certainly the right sort of player. Big quick and physical. |

Re: Ferdinand Takyi
Seeing the thread title I thought it was a a new rap star.
Watching the video he looks like a taller Massanka no close control or end product, would possibly make a good cover for Manny and Pearson at the back as he looked like a central defender. Posted via mobile theme |

Re: Ferdinand Takyi
Looking at video....likes to drop and bring others into it. Hard to shake off and ...chases every ball ...some close control for a large fella. Hard to say but whatever we need someone to take the pressure up the other end and play off

Re: Ferdinand Takyi
And yet no other club (including the previous 3 where he was on trial) have taken a punt on him - why ? We have to trust our coaching team - they will hopefully get it right but it's not as if we can gradually introduce him in the reserves like in the days of old where we would have fielded a regular reserve team in a competitive league.

Quote:
Going back to the Ugarte example he was on trial at Wycombe before we signed him and they passed on him. In that Djibril Cisse film it was interesting hearing Takyi mentioning previous agents holding out for big contracts and not worried about him not playing. Given our issue with agents seems that theybare completely about self-interest rather than their clients career. Not a shock to hear but interesting to hear a players perspective, who was obviojsly happy to sign for the so called.smaller clubs. Last edited by EnglishRed; 4th December 2017 at 07.41:28.. |

Re: Ferdinand Takyi
Not wishing to pre-jydge but is this guy a journeyman trialist? He was released by NLSouth relegation scrappers Bognor Regis Town last month after two games, with manager Jack Pearce telling him he was not of the required standard .
