Default Re: A plea from the club re smoke bombs / flares

Got to be honest I don’t understand why the club gets fined at all. It is the responsibility of the individual perpetrators for their actions. The club cannot do any more than ask/instruct people to behave in an acceptable way. And, if your telling me the fans should be searched and prevented from bringing pyrotechnics into a ground then is it not the responsibility of the owners of said ground? Nobody at any time made any effort to check if I had a flare with me, when entering the Divi, surely that is the responsibility of Chester FC, and if I had and was stupid enough to use it, how can that be the fault of Wrexham AFC? It would be my action, my responsibility and it should be be me who should be be brought to justice!
I’m pretty damn sure this is on very dodgy legal ground. If a club can show it has taken reasonable measures and done all it can to prevent the action of a few idiots, then it can do no more & the idiots themselves are accountable not the club.
The perpetrators should be found and prosecuted, the club should not be fined!!

Hence John Mills statement.

Anyone caught with flares should be dealt with by the fashion police also.

I don't know why this is such a big deal for us. You see flares and smoke bombs at most big derby games and other clubs don't seem to be getting massively punished.

Its because the FAW, under who's control we are, hold the club responsible for the actions of their fans. The English FA hold individual fans responsible (seems a lot fairer to me). However, those that do get caught in 'big derby games' usually get big fines and football bans, because in both cases its against the law to have them is sports stadia. We don't make the rules, nor set the law, but we are unavoidable bound by them.

The big deal for us is the £500 per smoke bomb which comes out of the Clubs budget.

It will be a big deal if it continues and the thousands in fines means we were not able to get a player in who we wanted as the money was no longer there.

I don't get how anyone can still argue against this, just dont let off any further smoke bombs, its dead simple. Do we want to try and go up or spend our cash on fines ?????

As a fan I will be livid if I see any more and it costs us further.

Could the club and other Welsh clubs get together to do some lobbying on this, pointing out the English FA's fairer stance?

Almost a certainty these sorts of incedents would stop taking place with the English FA's approach, which ultimately most at all Welsh clubs want, seems like a money making scheme at present.
