Default Re: Smoke bombs/Flares - Punishment !

Perhaps the club should write to the FAW and point out the varying levels of treatment dependent on which governing body covers each club.

It is clearly unfair - I still don't see how our club can be held responsible for the actions of a small few - it is those individuals who should be identified and punished - not the rest of us. In fact the vast majority of these incident occur at away games so there is a case for the host club to be held responsible - they are in control of stadium entry, searches, stewarding and crowd control.

I fail to see what more we can do as a club - the messages and warnings have been well and truly rammed down our throats at every home game at half time - perhaps Macclesfield was a turning point although the weather may have been largely instrumental in putting off the setting off of yet another smoke bomb at the time we equalized.

Do we actually make representation to the FAW though ? or simply nod and take it on the chin - extremely hard to take when genuine supporters with the love of the club in their hearts are selling raffle tickets only for the pounds being clawed back to pay fines generated by a few morons.

I am sure we are both wise enough to distinguish the difference. However, not all can seemingly recognise the risks associated with these devices. Essentially, no place for any of these devices at a football match or in enclosed spaces.

Sorry to be a ‘stuck record’ but it’s an issue that really bugs me!

But the reply I had was ‘We have to be under the FAW because we are a welsh club’ so i didn’t push It any more.

It does feel like we are at a disadvantage at the moment! Of course if the trip to see them re funding for stadium development etc is successful then I may just change my mind...
Yes, that link might be the article I read and as it was written when Newport were still non-league, I think it applies to them now as well.

Perhaps the Welsh league clubs (Prem & EFL) are still under the FAW for player registrations and have to await international clearance but discipline is solely the remit of the Eng FA.

You would have thought that there would need to be some proof/ evidence to link the person who discharged the flare was linked to our club in some way before the WFA could issue a fine. Just because a flare is thrown from within a crowd of Wrexham supporters does not mean the said person has any links to our club. Would make an interesting case in a court of law especially if the said person could not be identified by means of CCTV or some other method.
There may be a legal professional out there who could offer some advice to the club about this, with a view to possibly taking action against the WFA.

It is clear that the FAW are trying to justify themselves by dishing out harsh punishment against us. Sad when you think where the WFA was formed. Hate to say it but we have to pursue being part of the English FA so that we are not disadvantaged.

While the rule's are as they are it's still up to fans to take responsibility. Don't set off flares and the club won't get fined. Simple.

Do you have absolutely no appreciation of the importance of a Football Club's history or association with its home town.
Or are you just fishing and I'm the first bite.

Interesting video for those idiots who still think flares and smoke bombs add to the ambience at a match. In this case, the colour is probably brown!

I can understand a club being punished if they are lax on security, searches, warnings etc. But if we are doing everything reasonably expected of us, it seems unfair to punish us when it’s some selfish thoughtless individuals doing it and it’s frankly impossible to stop.
