Re: Wow.....how wafer thin is our squad?
This was a chance or players to push for a first team place. None of them have done themselves any favours. DK should start sending some of them out on loan now to free up some wages for January.

Re: Wow.....how wafer thin is our squad?
That Tharme makes Olly Marx look like a young Rio Ferdinand. I'm not having any of the "only a kid" defence either, basic fundamentals he is lacking in. Really shocked by some of the more senior players on show, smith/mackreth being 2 who have done their league game time opportunities no good whatsoever after complete abject displays!! Shite.

Re: Wow.....how wafer thin is our squad?
Sorry is this post sounds negative, but I’m pre-warning before reading on...
There were very few positives to come from today’s game. We can now concentrate on the league I suppose. Ben burrows (i think it was him) came on second half did okay and wanted the ball. I think he also hit the post. Hurst and Macketh were woeful. Hurst in particular hoofed the ball out of play/ to the opposition over and over again. He clearly isn’t a centre back or midfielder. Dibble was as someone else described “in no-mans land” for the second. His kicking was poor. Hope Coddington can come back in January to shore up the goalkeeping position. Leo smith, could really have put a stake in for a place in the team, but sadly looked lost. He didn’t want the ball and at present I can see him dropping into the league of wales/cymru alliance, at the end of the season. Thrame looked clumsy and didn’t win a header all afternoon against beck. It was a tough ask for him to come into the team and if he is to progress further, he could do with time out on loan playing first team football. The young left back looked lost and again is another who needs games out on loan, playing first team football. Ferdinand upfront was not good. Big, strong, but sadly not a footballer at our level. Let him go please Mr Keates. My biggest gripe is the formation. Why try and play the diamond that didn’t work last season, against a team with two decent wingers and someone upfront who was going to win every header (Beck)? We didn’t have the personel on the field to set-up like this, and even if we did, it is tried and tested to fail. The squad is wafer thin and what today showed is how reliant we are on the first eleven. Let’s hope that resting so many, brings three points in our next league fixture!!! |

Re: Wow.....how wafer thin is our squad?
That was dire. Mackreth needs to be shown the door. 1st half he had a number of chances to take his full back on but cut inside and ran into men, plus his 1st touch was appalling. We should have played the 1st team, a chance to build confidence after a heavy defeat last week. Instead we produced an embarrassment of a performance.

Re: Wow.....how wafer thin is our squad?
We need a reserve team for the lads to get game time, players who only train and get no competitive action are always going to struggle, But then I agree the likes of Mackreth , Hurst , need to go , Mackreth has been a huge disappointment for me .

Re: Wow.....how wafer thin is our squad?
Ah the predicted froth after a game 95% wanted us to lose anyway! great to see Takyi being completely written off after 40 minutes in an experimental line up. I would agree it’s a shame that some of the fringe 1st teamers sounded poor, but I absolutely expect us to bring in 4-5 new players in jan particularly with the Moult money. Love those bemoaning us losing prize money when just a few weeks ago someone posted up the prize money for each round and pretty much all agreed it doesn’t even break even until the semis! Oh well happy weekend everyone!

Re: Wow.....how wafer thin is our squad?
I guess this cup competition means a helluva lot more to Harrogate and it showed. They outclassed us in every possible way, none of our fringe players did themselves any favours.
What is the training set up doing every week as nobody is capable of closing down an opponent, that applies to the first team as much s those on display today. |
