I wasn't a big fan of York at the time, but he'd be a step up on what we've got now.

There was talk of Falkingham from Harrogate which maybe a good shout but we should be looking for an experienced midfielder ideally L1 standard that is looking to extend his playing career (like when we got Keates) and Gateshead had Oster.

Afolayan has to be better than we have and likewise so does Burrows. Possibly Kosylo for Halifax as well.
Yes Kosylo would be a good signing, would be happy to take a punt on him.
Don't normally like talking about ex-players coming back but we can do a lot worse than Wes York as mentioned, guaranteed 10 goals from the wing per season. Always thought he was under-rated and certainly better than what we have out wide

Just wish he wasn't weak as piss.

It certainly isn't great that York would be an improvement on what we have; Holroyd aside all Keats's new attacking players have had very little impact.

However we are where we are.

As for other names, my scouting acumen is as good as Mills, so I am inclined to wait for DK to announce the names of new players that haven’t been bandied about on here.

Isn’t Xmas exciting?

PS As MR Micawber said, “Something will turn up”.

That's why I made the Messi Ronaldo etc post, as the thread title is "Go on then name some names" how can you pluck names out of thin air if you don't have a clue who the manager is interested in or who's available,or how much we can afford the list goes on and how can you say sign a player you don't see play regularly. Yes someone could have a good game against us and next game we don't see be rubbish. Still I suppose if it keeps some happy.

He has got a football brain, ability and can get goals. His attitude is questionable hence he remains at this level. Has possibly lost the ability to get any better unless compared to Mackreth who, using football terminology, is crap.

For what it's worth I thought Wes had a lot of potential. His game would have improved considerably if, when running with the ball, he kept his eyes open, had an idea of where he was running to and confined that to the general direction of the goal.

Taking Wes York back again is a bit like taking up with an old girlfriend - you always hope she is going to be much better but she still farts during sex.

If you read the first post, in this little bit of light hearted pre Christmas fun I did give you a supposed budget of £50,000 signing on fee. Chill out my friend, its only a bit of fun, Keates will buy who he wants regardless of anything on here.

I've never seen much evidence of a brain; on or off the pitch. However as I said he would improve us going forward.

Apologies I didn't notice that I will put my Victor Meldrew cap away and replace it with a Tommy Cooper Fez 😂 50k ermmm what would that buy us these day's if you include the wage? If I had a wish it would be 2 old heads who have done it higher up the leagues and still have ambition a striker and a midfielder similar to what Keates was when Saunders signed him, but I don't suppose 50k would be enough I hope Santa 🎅 is kind to us all.
