Pearson is immense, but he too was non stop for ten minutes and I worry about his discipline having taken so many cards for dissent.
Finally, the refs get some stick on here, but today he was excellent and also the game had no cards.
Thought the ref was poor.

Great centre half display, ref was a clown, why take action for their 2 players b4 half time but left Smith down in the first min. Boden looked good on the ball, few good things from Kelly, the rest was dour. As for Tranmere winning it forget it, Macclesfield are streets ahead of them.

I'd settle for mid table la as long as we play pretty tippy tappy football

I thought we did OK today but just couldn't step it up to get the win. Pearson and Manny won the battles they needed to, and Pearson's distribution was generally a step up from his usual hoofing. Roberts was solid and Jenno seemed to get more effective going forward as the game wore on. Miller was a different player from last week's training match and looked dangerous on a couple of occasions when he got through their high defensive line. After a slow start this season Boden is beginning to look more like the player optimists wanted him to be, but he's not there yet or he'd be scoring. It's as if all our forwards are taken by surprise when they get into decent positions and the finishing suffers as a result. Rutherford and Wedgbury lack a bit of flair but they never stop harrassing the opposition and provide a bit of glue to hold the team together. Holroyd does have flair but today it was often used helping out with our defensive system.
As always this season it wasn't very pretty but I really don't care as long as it works enough to keep us in contention.
We were the better team today against a nasty, cynical, opposition who are up there. If we can get those reinforcements in during January then who knows.

We are where we are in this league by default: not one of the top 8 teams managed a win today. Any one side that becomes consistent will romp away for the title, and on current form that’s the tramps, sadly, and not us.

Still, it’s good to see us in 2nd spot at Christmas, and well done the almost 5,000 who were there today!

Happy Christmas to you all.

Good summary. Spot on.

But Boden is never going to get there . No pace, no height, no strength, no effort (till recent games) and just the odd nice touch. He has virtually zero impact in the penalty area and we are not going anywhere as long as he is a first choice striker.

Dover are crap. Took us about 30 mins to realise it, but once we stopped playing hoofball and got the ball down, we looked such a much better football team than them. I hope people on here start to see that we're second in the league because we deserve to be, not because we're 'lucky'. Dover were shockingly bad - time wasting when it's 0-0 and 30 mins to go? They won't go up before us.

Agree about Tranmere love-in. We seem to suck up to a different club every week. Aldershot, Dover, Tranmere. Seriously, not one of them is better than us.
